HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 1508F` \,{ « h _ 00 ORDINANCE NO. 1508 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON,' WASHINGTON, RELATING TO, REGULATING AND REQUIRING PERMITS OF HOUSE MOVERS; DEFINING OFFENSES, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES. BE IT ORDAINED 13Y THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to engage in any moving, transporting, removing or haul- ing of housing structures of any type or description over, unto, across or upon any public street, alley, roadway or public place without first having obtained and being the owner and holder of a valid and sub- sisting permit therefor, same to be known as a "House Moving Permit"; the fee for such is hereby fixed as follows: $10.00 per unit if under 1,000 square feet; $15.00 per single story unit over 10000 square feet; $25.00 per unit over 30 feet wide or more than one story in height; said permit shall be posted and conspicuously displayed on the structure moved or carried on the person of the party in charge of such moving and said permit shall be displayed at the request of any duly authorized official of the City of Renton. SEC°IT ON II: Any person desiring a "House Moving Permit" shall make written application therefor to the City Clerk upon a form to be furnished by the City Clerk for said purpose, at least three days prior to such moving. Such application shall state, among others, the name or names and residence address of the person, firm or corporation for whom a permit is sought, the date of intended moving, the exact route to be taken, the size and weight of the structure to be moved, and the escort service to be furnished, if any. A copy of such application shall thereupon be submitted to the Chief of Police of the City of Renton'f or his approval. SECTION III: Any applicant for a. "House Moving Permit", in addition to the requirements contained in Section II hereof, shall submit to the City Clerk evidence of adequate liability and property damage insurance coverage or such other security as the City Clerk may require, which insurance shall adequately protect the City of Renton against any loss to property, or bodily injury or other damages sustained or claimed by any person, firm or corporation, or sustained or claimed by the City of Renton, arising out of the granting or use of this permit or any acts or omissions done or performed under or in connection with such house moving activities. SECTION IV: If the owner or holder of any such "House Moving Permit" fails or neglects to provide and furnish an adequate escort service for moving any housing structure within the City of Renton, he shall pay to and/or reimburse the City of Renton for any such service or assistance rendered by the City while moving such housing structure within the city limits of the City of Renton. SECTION V: Any person, firm or corporation violating or failing to comply with any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by fine in any sum not exceeding $100.00 or by imprisonment in the City Jail of not exceeding thirty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION VI: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage, approval and legal publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this �5,h day of February, 1955.
