OF ORDINAL`?CE NO. 1143, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCES NOS. 1235 AND 1497, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND REGULATING . THE USE OF PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGHWAYS IN THE CITY OF RENTON; PROVIDING FOR THE . INSTALLATION, . REGULA- TION AND CONTROL OF THE USE OF PARKING METERS AND PARKING DIETER ZONES; DEFINING PARKING METER ZONES; AUTHORIZING A L`ETHOD OF PAYMENT FOR PARKING METERS AND THE INSTALLATION THEREOF EXCLUSIVELY FROM THE RECEIPTS OBTAINED FROM THEIR OPERATION; PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT AND PENALTY FOR V I O LAT I ON THEREOF; CREATING A PARKING METER -FUND, AND DECLARING AN E1+riERGEN CY" . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIM CITY OF Rr.'1V T ON AS FO LLOKS : SECTION I: Existing Section V of Ordinance No. 1143, as hereto- fore amdnded by Ordinances Nos. 1235 and 1497, is hereby amended and re- enacted to read as follows: SECTION V, AS AMENDED: Whenever any vehicle shall be parked, next to a parking meter on any day between the hours of 8 a. m. and 6 p. m., except on the following designated. holidays, to -wit: January lst (New .Year Is Day) February 12th (Lincoln's Birthday) February 22nd (-Washington's Birthday) Memorial Day July 4th (Independence Day) Labor Day October 12th (Columbus Day) November 11th ( Veterans ..Day) Thanksgiving Day (as proclaimed by the Chief Executive of the State) December 25th (Christmas Day) Sundays the owner or operator of said vehicle shall park within the area designated by the curb or street marking lines as indicated for parallel or diagonal parking and immediately upon entering said parking space shall deposit in said parking meter a five cent coin in United States currency for the legal parking limit as indicated on said meter. It shall be unlawful for any person so parking a vehicle to fail or neglect to so deposit the proper coin or coins or to fail to park within said designated, area. t Said. parking space may then be used by such vehicle during the legal parking limit provided. by the ordinances of the City of Renton or regulations issued thereunder, and said vehicle shall be considered as unlawfully parked if it remains in said space beyond. the legal park- ing limit and/or when said. parking meter displays a signal showing such illegal parking. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle registered in his name to be unlawfully parked as set out in this Section. SECTION II: Any andall ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed and superseded. SECTION III: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and legal publication. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 4 day of June, 1957.
