AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF TITLE III.(DEPARTMENTS) OF ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO WATER RATES AND INSTALLATIONS OF WATER MAINS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE'MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL .OF THE.CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: Existing Section 3205 of Chapter 2, Title III (Departments) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled „CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" reading as follows: "Section 3.205 « PRIVATE PIPE REQUIREMENTS: All pipe to be used for connection to the City Water System shall be new pipe, either galvanized iron,- cast iron or copper tubing. The Superintendent may, at his discretion, permit the use of nonmetallic pipe where soil conditions may cause a deterioration of metallic pipe. "Water supply lines other than metered service connections shall be not less than six inch (611) diameter pipe. Pipes of smaller size may be used when the Superintendent determines that maximum fire rating is maintained or the line in question cannot be extended. "All pipes shall be laid not less than two feet (2f) below the surface of the ground, except that in ungraded streets the pipe shall be laid two feet (21) below the established street grade. "All pipe shall be designed to withstand internal water pressure of one hundred fifty (150) pounds per square inch, and shall conform to the latest adopted standards of the American Water Works Association. Pipe shall be -sterilized in accordance with the regulations of the State Health .Department. ."The Superintendent will maintain private services in streets which are being graded or regraded and will have such access on private property as shall be necessary to maintain such pipes during the work, and shall as soon as practicable upon completion of the work re-lay said pipes in the streets." BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: Section 3-205, as amended: PRIVATE PIPE REQUIREMENTS: All pipe to be used for connection to the City Water System shall be new pipe,. either galvanized iron, cast iron or copper tubing. Pipes of smaller size may be used when the Superintendent determines that maximum fire rating i.s maintained or the line in question cannot be extended. -I- Y f' If it has been determined that it would be to the best interests of the City and the general locality to be benefited thereby to install a larger size main than one then needed or considered by the subdivider, owners or developers immediately abutting upon the street, alley or easement in which such a main is to be placed, then the City may, at its discretion, require the installa- tion of such a larger sized main in which case the City shall pay the increased difference in cost between the installation cost of the smaller main and of the larger main. SECTION II: Existing.Section 3.231 of Chapter 2, Title III (Departments) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES:OF THE CITY OF RENTON" reading as follows: "Section 3-231 - CHARGES FOR UNMETERED WATER SERVICE: Flat rate charges for unmetered water service within the City are hereby fixed at the sum of $1.75 per month for a 3%4" connection. "Provided, however, that water used with high seasonal demand as determined by the ratio of quantity used in July -August to quantity used in February March exceeding ratio 3 to 1 shall not be entitled to the $0.06 rate. "In computing meter rates, as provided above, results ending in one or two cents will be counted 100"; results ending in three, four, six or seven cents will be counted -n"51"; results ending in eight or nine cents will be counted ►►1011.►► BE AND THE SAME IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS .FOLLOWS: Section 3-231 as amended - CHARGES FOR UNMETERED WATER SERVICE: Flat rate charges for unmeteredwater service within the City are hereby fixed at the sum of $2.25 per month fpr a 31410 connection. Over 100,000 cubic feet - $0.06 per 100 cubic feet.
