AN ORDINANCE requiring all meat sold, offered for sale or resale,
or exposed for sale for human consumption within the corporate limits
of the City of Renton, to have been inspected previously; declaring any
violation thereof to be a misdemeanor; and prescribing penalties for
the violation thereof.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: MEAT INSPECTION, WHEN REQUIRED. All meat sold, offered
for sale or resale, or exposed for sale for human consumption in the
City of Renton shall bear either a city, state, or federal inspection
and passed stamp. In inspecting and stamping meat, the standards pre-
scribed by the United States Bureau of Animal Industry, United States
Department of Agriculture, as amended, shall govern, except with respect
to a farmer bona fide killing his own production on his own premises for
his own use. A farmer killing his own production on his own farm who
has a state permit from the State Director of Agriculture may present
such meat for inspection either at a fully licensed slaughterhouse or at
a point designated by the King County Health Department at which inspec-
tion is maintained. The head, liver, lungs, and kidneys attached to the
carcass by their natural attachments must be presented at the inspection
point. 3
Section 2: PENALTY. Violation of or failure to comply with any of
the provisions of this ordinance shall subject the offender to a fine in
any sum not to exceed Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00), or to imprison-
ment in the City Jail for a period not exceeding ninety (90) days, or
both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of tha court.
Section 3. ENFORCEMENT OF. The enforcement of this ordinance is
hereby delegated.by the City of Renton to King County.
Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect five (5) days from and after its passage, approval, and publi-
cation.
