AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON AMENDING SECTION 17 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1236,
BEING AN ORDINANCE OF SAID CITY LICONSING AND REGULATING TAXICABS AND FOR HIRE CARS
AND DRIVERS THEREOF, PROVIDING FOR REVOCATION OF LICENSES ISSUED, AND PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1189.
The City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, do ordain as follows:
SECTION 1: Section 17 of Ordinance No. 1236, entitled an ordinance of the City
of Renton, Washington, licensing and regulating taxicabs and for hire cars and drivers
thereof in the City of Renton, providing for the revocation of licenses issued and
providing penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing Ordinance No. 1189,
reading as follows:
"Section 17: It shall be unlawful for any person to cruise, drive
or operate a taxicab or for hire car repeatedly or persistently to
and fro upon any public street, and it shall also be unlawful for
any one to be allowed in the front seat except the driver",
be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 17: It shall be unlawful for any person to cruise, drive
or operate a taxicab or for -hire car repeatedly or persistently to
and fro upon any public street.. It shall also be unlawful to carry
or transport any person, other than the driver, in the front seat
of any taxicab or for -hire car, except that when the rear seats
thereof are occupied, then additional paying passengers not ex-
ceeding two in number may be carried in the front seat."
SECTION 2: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days from
and after its passage, approval and legal publication as provided by law.
