AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF R ENT ON REGULATING THE ACTIVITY
OF COMMERCIAL WASHING AND CLEANING OF MOTOR VEHICLES, AND
PROVIDING PENALITIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF.
The City Council of the City of Renton do ordain as
follows:
Section 1: Any person or corporation engaging in the
activity of washing or cleaning motor vehicles, on a commercial
basis or for hire, at automobile service stations or other places
in the City of Renton, shall be and als hereby required to con-
duct such activity in such manner as will prevent waste waters
soil, sand, grease or oil derived or accumulating therefrom,
from draining on to or across the surface of any public sidewalk
or street of the City, and in such manner as will prevent the
drainage of soil, sand, grease or oil into any sanitary sewer
of the Gity; and where necessary - in order to prevent such pro-
hibited drainage shall provide suitable sumps or catch basins
at the premises where such activity is conductedy in the nature
of traps for soil, sand, grease, oil and waste waters, of such
character as shall be adequate to receive and retain such by-
products of the activity and to prevent the prohibited drainage
thereof as aforesaid*
Section 2: Violation of the provisions hereof by any person
or corporation shall be punishable, upon conviction thereof, by
a fine in any sum not exceeding 0100,00.
'Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
five days after its passage, approvals, and legal publication as
provided by law.
