W�EAS, due to the great inYlug of population into the City
02' Renton and surrounding territory, the work of the Police Depart-
ment of said City has been greatly increased, and .
WHEREAS, the cost of living has greatly inareased since the
adoption ot' the budget for the year 1943, and
W�EAS, it is n cessary that an �increase in salary/be granted
the �Polioe Department�in order to maintain the personel of the
Department in competition with wages paid in defence induatry, and
WI��;AS, the City oP Renton has received from the �tate of
Tq�ashingtom, funds designated as State Aid Funds , which are available
Yor the payment of the increase of wa�es granted herein.
NOW T'riERr�'ORE, BE IT RESOLVID by the City Council of the City
of Renton as f'ollows:
,� SECTION I; That Prom and after June 1, 1943 the salaries oP
the Chie�' of Police and patrolmen be and they hereby are inareased
to the f'ollowing amounts: � .

� Chief of- Police �275.00 per month
Patrolmen �225.00 per month
SECTION II: That there be and hereby is transferred from and
ou� of the State Aid Fund into the Salary and Wages classif ication
of the Police Department bud�et for the year 1943, the sum of !
�1573.88 to provide the funds necessary to pay the increase in
salary hereby granted.
