RESOLUTION N0. 42$2
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF NORTH 3RD STREET AT LOGAN AVENUE NORTH FOR
UP TO A FOUR WEEK PERIOD IN OR AROUND MAY 2016, FOR THE LOGAN
AVENUE NORTH PROJECT.
WHEREAS, as part of the Logan Avenue North Project, the intersection of Logan Avenue
North and North 3rd Street will be completely reconfigured; and
WHEREAS, due to the significant grade differences between the current road elevation
and the finished grade of the new road section, it is not possible to maintain traffic through the
existing curve which carries one-way traffic from northbound Logan Avenue North onto one-
way eastbound North 3�d Street; and
WHEREAS, the entire process, which includes excavating the path of the new North 3rd
Street segment, putting in the roadway base, paving the road, and tying it into the new Logan
Avenue North at the west end and existing North 3rd Street at the east end, is expected to take
three weeks; and
WHEREAS, to allow for contingencies or unexpected conditions or occurrences, it is
recommended that North 3`d Street be closed for up to a four week period; and
WHEREAS, RMC 9-9-3 requires the City Counci) to authorize street closures by
resolution; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide full and adequate notice to the public of the
extent and nature of such closure;
NOW,THEREFnRE,THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.

SECTION II. The City Council does hereby authorize the temporary closure of North
3�d Street at Logan Avenue North for up to a four week period beginning in or around May
2016,to allow the City to complete the Logan Avenue North Project.
SECTION III. The Public Works Department is hereby authorized and directed to take
those steps necessary to provide full and adequate notice to the public of the temporary
closure, including the notice required by RMC 9-9-2, and the use of an electronic Portable
Changeable Message System.
