An ordinance for the prevention of fires,and the protaction of persons
and property from fires� and providing penr�lties for the violatio:n

thereof.
The Citq Counc3l of the @;�� of Renton do ordain as foll_ow�: `
,� �ection I--�It shall be unlawful for any per$on to deposit any ashet� ,
� burning caal or e�bers within ten feet of any buildi,�g,fenae,sfdewalk,

\ pavement or other structl�re made of wood or other combustible material, �
or within ten feet of any wooden wall,�artition�e�,s�ng,basel�oard,floor

� � or othe wdodwork of any brick,stone or iron buildin�,or within ten
✓� � feet of any lwnber, timber,wood,hay stra;�, shav�nge,rubbish or other
� `� co�bu�tiolQ material or substanc� w.�atever e�cce t in metall.ic sarthern

� or non co�buetible receptacle�.
Section 2.-It shal]. be unla�ful for any person maxing ,using,�atoring
� � or having tne charge or cantrui of any shavings,rubbiah, sacks , �aga �

� lit�er hay straw or any cpmbu�tible waete or fragment� to fa31

�\ neglect or refuse ,at the elose of each 3ay to cause the s�xne to l�e
� �; secur�2y stored or disposed �f so as to be safe fr�m fire.
� Section 3. �-It ehall be unla�vful for an�r person to store any wa�te,

� rags paper or other substanca liable by �pontaneoue co�b;ietion,or
� �
other��rise� ta eause fire in any other manner or pla,ce ,Qxcept in a r�cept-
'� acle made of incombustible material.
� � Section 4. � It shall �e unl.awful fo.r any per�on to keep ,store or piace
� aax any explosive or infla�able comx�o�xnd or combustible material of
�
� 4 any kind under or upon the stairway of any 'a�ailrling or in any place
' �� which �hall obetruct or render egr��e from guch building hasardous
� in ca�e of fire.
Section 5. �--It ahall be unla�rful �or any person to al�.ow or permit
to remain upon any roof or in any yard any accumulation oP paper,hay,

straw,moss or inflamable or combuatfble rubbi�h or waste of any descrip-
-� t i on. �-
Sectio±� 6. �An3r p�rson violating any of the provi�iona af tnis ordinanc�
` shall be desmed auilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof
shal7. be fined in any sum not e�caeding one hundreddol:lars or imprison�
�ent for a term not sxcsoding thirty days, or be both so fined and im�
