Margie Albritton Anthony Costanti Elizabeth called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Alicia Glenwell Charlie Gray 1. Minutes from June 16, 2009, Meetinq: It was moved, seconded and Adria Krail carried to approve the June minutes. Linda Smith Elizabeth Stevens 2. Mark Gropper, Deputv Executive Director of Renton Housinq Authority, Samantha Williams Development Plans for the Hiqhlands: The Renton Housing Authority is working with the Community and Economic Development Division to engage Absent: the community in the process of developing the Highlands in to a more livable, pedestrian community that will serve elderly, disabled, and low- Robin Jones income families. Focus meetings including elected officials will be held at Rolf Dragseth the Highlands Neighborhood Center and other locations through late Rob Spier August. A work session will be held August 24, 2009, to process the feedback provided at the meetings, and .a presentation with Staff Contacts: recommendations for a 5-10 year plan will be made to City Council on October 26, 2009. Karen Bergsvik 425-430-6652 3. Update on Habitat for Humanitv-Renton Project: Tim shared that this kbergsvik@rentonwa.gov project of 41 units of housing is currently on hold. Habitat for Humanity has Dianne Utecht not been able to pay off the land, which was a stipulation in the financing 425-430-6655 plan for breaking ground. They are currently paying approximately $20,000 dutecht@rentonwa.gov per month in interest. The bank has indicated that it may be possible to Katie McClincy finish the project in phases and that option is currently being explored. 425-430-7555 4. Aaencv Visit: The Kiwanis group is supporting the ARISE shelter at St. kmcclincy@rentonwa.gov Anthony's on Monday, August, 10, 2009. Opportunities are available for Carol Allread members to help with meal preparation and cleanup. 425-430-6650 callread@rentonwa.gov 5. Communitv Services Department Information Booth: Opportunities are available to volunteer at the Community Services Department Information Booth at Renton River Days. 6. Summer Lunch Proqram Attendance: Dianne provided an update on the Summer Lunch Program. A summary of data indicated that nearly 5,000 kids ages 1-18 were served in 13 days. Emerald Heights Apartments had to discontinue the program due to staffing issues. Highlands Community Church is enjoying great success in the program.
