Meetin�s: It was moved, Charlie Gray seconded and carried to approve the February and March minutes. Adria Krail Linda Smith Z• 2011-2012 Fundin�Process: Rob Spier a) View online application on HS Connect: Members received a demonstration Elizabeth Stevens,Vice- on how agencies will use HS Connect to apply for funding. City staff will also have Chair the ability to view all data and documents submitted by agencies at HS Connect, Nicole Wicks including primary contacts for each agency, program,and the dollar amount they are asking for. b) Review of Draft Ratin�Tool: A subcommittee of Charlie, Linda, Rob, and Nicole developed a draft rating tool to bring to the April meeting. It will address Absent: need, program description and accessibility, service system coordination, outputs Robin Jones, Chair and outcomes. It was distributed to the Committee, and there were no suggested Samantha Williams changes. c) Groups for readin�/ratin�applications: Applications will be distributed to Staff Contacts: four groups to ensure that each member gets roughly the same number of applications to read. Karen Bergsvik d) Draft of Staff Review of Application Summarv: Dianne sought input from the 425-430-6652 Committee on the draft of Staff Review of Application Summary. The Committee kbergsvik@rentonwa.gov agreed that it is important to include the demographic information of the clients. Dianne Utecht We will also include staff comments from other cities, if they are available by the 425-430-6655 June meeting. A City of Bellevue review was presented as a sample. dutecht@rentonwa.gov e) Draft of soft fundin�tar�ets: Dianne reviewed the soft funding targets for the 2008/2009 funding process by result. It was interesting to see how much funding Carol Allread was allocated to each result, and this will be the starting point for discussion for 425-430-6650 the May meeting. At that time we will know who applied for what funding, in each callread@rentonwa.gov result area. 3. Useful Back�round Information on Communitv Needs: It was suggested that committee members review the demographics and updated information, so that they have a common base of knowledge going into the funding deliberations. 4. Updates• a) Affordable Housin�Tour Apri) 14.2010: Linda, Charlie, and Margie attended the Affordable Housing Tour. All agreed that Rainier Vista in Seattle is a model for future housing in Renton. It presents an interesting concept of blended housing, where people are not segregated based on economic status. On the last leg of the tour,the City discussed plans to invigorate the Highlands area by rebuilding the housing to maximize the usage of the property and increase units of housing. \\Rvfps-03\depts\CS\Human Services\09\Advisory Committee\Agenda-Handouts-Minutes\Minutes\2010 Minutes\April Minutes\AprillOMinutes.doc �I�'' '�' b) Update on Veterans Levv to Communitv Services Committee Apri126.2010: This levy is up for renewal next year. It funds Human Services and veteran's programs in King County. Information will be presented to City Council to lay the groundwork for renewing the levy. The Committee would like a speaker on this at a future meeting. c) Brief Presentation on Renton Communitv Supper.Citv Council, Mav 3.2010.7:00 pm: Pastor Loren Lichty and Captain Terry Masango will give a brief presentation on the Community Supper. Thirteen churches are getting together to fund a hot meal program on Mondays,Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:30 p.m. They are recruiting volunteers. A part-time cook will be hired,and some of the food will be donated by local grocery stores. The Community Supper will be key to getting a mobile medical van and other services for the homeless in Renton. The mobile medical van is funded by the Veteran's Levy. d) First dav of Renton Communitv Supaer.Julv 6.2010. 5:30-6:30pm: For more information,visit the Community Supper Hot Meal Program website at www.rentoncommunitvsupper.com. e) Reminder—Census: Renton was at a 48% return rate. The City had a fairly low return rate, so additional publicity and outreach was initiated by City staff and the Mayor. Committee members are encouraged to promote the census and help neighbors with the form. Information on the census and return rates is available at http://2010.census.�ov/2010census/takel0map. Other: Adria said that the by-law revisions and section on attendance had not been completed. Since the May meeting will be busy,she moved to set it forth to the July meeting. The Committee members agreed to wait on the by-law revisions until July.
