The Civil Service Secretary indicated she believed all Captains could apply for the position, despite the fact they may be on probation as they were just recently promoted to Captain. The Union had asked that only those employees who may have finished probation but not been in the position for a full year are eligible. The Fire Chief said that he had no preference. The Commission questioned the A. Union as to how many employees would be eligible for testing if the Commission granted their request. The Union indicated a total of 3, if the Commission approved all Captains then 9 Captains would be eligible for testing for Battalion Chief this time only. The Corrunission determined that they would approve the change in eligibility for Battalion Chief testing this one time. The Commission granted the change for all Captains eligible to compete for the Battalion Chief test regardless of time in the position for this time only and an eligibility list would be established for 2 years, and that if a Captain was on probation for recently being promoted to Captain could not be promoted to Battalion Chief if eligible until their 9 month probation for Captain was complete. GTtt"N:" MQVED Jim Matthew SECCNd Andee Jorgensen : ° APPR4VEa ' 1 - ---- --- W , . . ,. .. ..... ...... .. ,._.. :_... .. ..,..... ...,:. _< :._ _ ; ,;.,: >. : : -::r3-«:; :::-; ,,,_ ;-;°::°.
