The C1erk advised af the pre�ence of the Brodells in the audience and inqui.ry was
made by Gouncilman Hu1se as to wh�ther -�he parties were will�.ng to asstiune the pre-
existing bonded indeb��dness o� the City. Mr. Bradell advised they did not wish to
assume an� prior existing indebtedness l�ut would be interest�d ta know what it camprised.
Mayor Aliment advised that the Treasurer woul.d furnish any information �hey may desire
and it was moved by Reid, seconded by Poli, to give favorable considera�ion to the letter
af intent with �he proper petition being thereby a3lowed to be circulated. Carried,
Mayor Aliment sa advised Mx. and Mrs. Brodell.
COMMUNICATIONS:
A letter �ram Building Sup't. H�gh�on advised af expiration of the 30-day lien
period on the Bell Cons�ruction Contract for constructian of a vault in the Clerkts
office and interior painting of City I-Iall, with no liens having been filed and al1
tax iiabiZities having been cleared. Rel.ease af the retained percentage, in the sum
of $�39.I3 was recommended.
Moved by Poli, seconded by Reid, to concur in the recommendation of the City
Engineer and referral af the pay�:ent �a the Accounting and Auditing Gommittee wi�h
Power ta Act. Carried. .
A letter was read from Mr. Hugh Mathews, 11415 S.E. 104�h Street and Mr. Charles
Eatan, 11423 S.E. 104�h advising that City installatian of culvert had diver�ed the
waters to their properties and �the problem could be averted by locating a dry we11 in
the area which, according to Street Commissianer Lynch required permissian o� the pro-
perty owners due to the required location of such well. Permission was granted for Iocating
the installation and it was maved hy Garrett, seconded by Gianini, to concur in the dry wel3
with referral to the Cit_y Attorney �or required docnments. Carrie d,
A letter from the University o� Washingtan announced a no-host luncheon and agenda
far the King Caunty Civi1 De�ense Canference on September 19, 1963 at the University,
Cafeteria:�and Room 233, Savery Hall, reg3stration at 9:15 a.m. Moved by Pali, seconded
by Bruce, to refer the letter to the Catyts Civil Defense Director, F. Lawrence. Carried,
A letter from the Association af Washington Ci�ies, submitted questionnaire �which
various ci�ies are bei ng requested �o complete in cannectian �aith passible inadequacy of
the existing city planning enabling act und�r which. most ci-ties aperate. The Associatian
Committee is hoping to have a bill prepared �or the 1965 session and suggestians were I
invited. G1erk Nelson advised that Planning Direc�ox Jensen had been furnished a copy.
Moved by Trimm, seconded by Garrett, to refer the letter tn the Le�isla�ive Committee.

A letter from the Washington Atatural Gas Company was xead applying for easement or ',
permit to cross a portion of Cedar River Park property with a gas main adjacent to existing
Metro and Pacific Riarthwest Bell easements. Drawings were attached, Aio. 7D-283.
Moved by Hulse, seconded by Bruce, to refer �he request to the City £n�ineer� the
Park Board and the Progerty Committee. Carried.
A let�er was read from City Engineer Wilson requestang authorization to call for
�� bids on grading work to be requir�d for the 3rd Avenue Narth extension. Septemlaer 9,
I963 �aas the date recommended for opening of the bids, the tentati.ve plan being ta grade �
Mthis year with th� paving work to be comp3eted next summer. '
Moved by Poli, seconded by Bruce, to concur in the recammendations af the Ci�y
Engineer. Carried.
Applicatian read from Wagnerts Cafe requested �hat Nelson Micheal be granted the
required licens� to operate a Musa.c Machine in said pl,ace af business. A second agp�i-
cation r�quested �hat Rainier Amusement Company be granted required license to operate
two Finball Devices in the Cafe.
