CALL TO ORDER: The October 11, 2007, meeting of the Library Board at the Renton Public Library began at 7:16 p.m. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Peter Hartley MOVED THAT THE AGENDA FOR October 1 l, 2007, be approved. SECONDED by John DuBois. The motion CARRIED. 3. REVIEW OF MINiITES: John DuBois MOVED THAT THE MINUTES OF July 12, 2007, be approved. SECONDED by Heather Nugent. The motion CARRIED. John DuBois MOVED THAT THE MINUTF,S OF September 13, 2007,be approved. SECONDED by Heather Nugent. The motion CARRIED 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. COMMiJNICATIONS: None. 6. FINANCIAL REPORT: The Septeinber 2007 Renton Public Library Expe�iditcrT-e Stata�s Report was distribtited to Board Members. Expenditures through September ace on track at 75% of the annual budget. The lower payroll expenditures due to Jerene Battisti's resignation were offset by Librarian Roberta Lorandeau's increased hours to fill in, and the buyout of Mrs. Battisti's vacation hours. 7. MONTHLY REPORT: STATISTICS—The September 2007 Renton Public Librmy St�rtistics repart was distributed to the Board. (A copy is attached to these minutes.) Once again Internet use has increased over the same month for the previous year. Librarians have been systematically weeding the book collection at the Highlands Library. This improves services and inereases circulation by making it easier for patrons to find desirable items and by creating space for new materials. � RENTON PUBLIC I,,,�,,.ARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEE�rrrG— October 11, 2007 PERSONNEL—Children's Librarian, Jessica Marie, will begin at the Renton Public Library November 19, 2007. Jessica earned her Library Sciences degree from Texas Women's University. Jessica developed the first teen program at the Tigard Public Library in Oregon where she currently works. AUDIO-VISUAL AREA—Shelving is ordered and should arrive for set-up in December. 8. OLD BUSINESS: REPAIRS=Parts are on order far the library's broken front door. The Board suggested the library buy a new door since repairs are becoming more frequent. COMPUTERS—The public Internet PCs��ill be changed to terminals operating from one server using a `thin client' platform. This will mean all eleven Internet stations can be up-dated and maintained on the one server instead of each computer being managed individually. This will save a great deal of Staff time and should also provide much better service to the public. BUDGET 2008 —City administrators continue to work on funding requests submitted by the departments. The Mayor will present the 2008 Budget to the Council on Monday, November �, 2007. 9. NEW BUSINESS: BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS TRAINING—The second annual Boards and Commissions Training offered by the City of Renton Community Services Department�vill be Monday, October 29, 2007. Dinner will be provided by Renton Technical College. 10.
