RESOLUTION NO. 4292
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING
TERMINATION OF AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH KING COUNTY FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 25 ENTITLED "FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES
OPERATING AGREEMENT," AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO ENTER INTO THE MUTUAL NOTICE OF TERMINATION AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, on February 19, 2010, the City and King County Fire Protection District No.
25 ("District") entered into an interlocal agreement pursuant to RCW Chapter 39.34, the
Interlocal Cooperation Act, to establish fire prevention, education, suppression, and emergency
medical services for the citizens within their respective boundaries; and
WHEREAS, on April 26, 2016, voters within the jurisdictions of the City and the District
voted to create the Renton Regional Fire Authority ("RRFA") in order to provide fire protection,
emergency medical and life safety services, and approved the Renton Regional Fire Authority
Plan, which sets forth the manner in which the services will be provided by the RRFA; and
WHEREAS, on July 1, 2016, the RRFA became effective and thereby rendered the
February 10, 2010 interlocal agreement between the City and District unnecessary;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The termination of the interlocal agreement with the District entitled
"Fire and Emergency Services Operating Agreement" is hereby authorized.
SECTION III. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into the Mutual- I��
Notice of Termination agreement with the District.

' Mutual Notice of Termination
The City of Renton "City" and the King County Fire Protection District No. 25 "District" entered
an interlocal agreement entitled "Fire and Emergency Services Operating Agreement" dated
February 19, 2010 and numbered CAG 10-026 "ILA."
The Renton Regional Fire Authority, consisting of the City and the District as participating
jurisdictions, became effective July l, 2016 thereby rendering the ILA unnecessary.
The parties mutually agree to waive the early termination notice requirements of Section V.F of
the ILA and hereby agree to mutually terminate the ILA effective July l, 2016.
