RENTON MUNICIPAL ARTS COMMISSION Meetin�Minutes � March 5, 2013 City Conferencing Center(7th Floor) Municipal Arts Commissioners Present: Michele Bettinger, Marsha Rollinger, Peter Harley, Mitch Shepard, Evelyn Reingold,Jerri Everett,T.Y.Lau, Ben Andrews, Natalie Gress, Bill Huls, Paul Hebron Absent: Britt McKenzie,laris English Guests: Liz Stewart, Renton History Museum City Staff present:Jennifer Davis Hayes(Community& Economic Development),VJ Orduna (Community Services) CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm by ex-vice chair Peter Harley. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Peter Hartley presented the minutes for the February 2013 meeting. There were no comments or corrections.T . BEN ANDREWS MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES SECONDED BY BILL HULS. MOTION APPROVED CORRESPONDENCE AND ANNOUNCEMENTS: Jennifer Davis Hayes passed around the correspondence folder for individual review. Other announcements: o March is Music Month for the Friends of Renton Schools o Renton Civic Theater Auction, March 9, Renton Technical College, 6-9 pm. $SO for tickets. OLD BUSINESS: COMMITTEE REPORTS 2013 Art Grants Jerri Everett and Marsha Rollinger met with Jennifer Davis Hayes to review and recommend grant awards. The amount allocated by the committee totaled $6,550. JERRI EVERETT MOTIONED TO INCREASE THE ALLOCATED BUDGET AMOUNT BY$550.00 TO SUPPORT RECOMMENDED GRANTS. SECONDED BY BILL HULS. Committee chair Ben Andrews reported that everything is moving forward as planned and that the Commissioners should help to get the word out and please attend. Creative Vitality Index Jennifer reported that data has been collected on creative businesses in Renton and the next step is to hold focus groups with technology companies, home occupation businesses and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering,Arts and Math). She requested that Commissioners assist and attend the focus groups. Michele Bettinger, Evelyn Reingold, Marsha Rollinger, Peter Hartley and Mitch Shepherd volunteered. NEW BUSINE55: RENTON RIVER DAYS BOOTH—JULY 26—28 The booth this year will be focused on "Art in Renton" and invite arts and culture organizations to participate with the Arts Commission. All Commissioners should participate either by helping to plan or to staff the booth for at least one shift. Commissioners Evelyn Reingold,Jerri Everett, Michele Bettinger and Mitch Shepherd volunteered to organize the booth. There is also an option to have an "Arts in Action" booth that would have artists practicing art during the festival. The planning committee will consider implementing this as well. . � � • ADJOURNMENT: The March 5, 2013 meeting was adjourned at 6:25 pm.
