Chair Jim Phelan called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Review of the minutes from the November 22, 2013 Meeting

a) Lateral Firefighter leremy Kane provided a presentation in support of his appeal to be reestablished onto
the Lateral Firefighter Eligibility List. Mr. Kane was removed from the Lateral Eligibility list after the
background check was conducted and it was evident that he did not have the experience required to be hired
as a Lateral Firefighter.
The motion was made to make a decision on the appeal request at the December 17th Civil Service Commission
meeting.

b) The motion was made to deny the appeal as requested by Mr. Kane.

c) Seven Lateral Firefighters were hired with an effective start date of lanuary 1, 2014.

a) The Civil Service Commission reelected Jim Phelan as the Civil Service Chair for 2014.

b) The Civil Service Commission reelected Bill Larson as the Vice Chair for 2013.

c)The Civil Service Commission approved the meeting dates for 2014 and made one adjustment for
December 2014. Instead of the fourth Tuesday of the month, the December meeting will be on the third Tuesday,
December 16, 2014.
