Attendance was taken. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. TREASUR�R'S REPORT—Treasurer, Rose Warren, reported the following: Bank Statement $13,052.07 Emergency Fund 203.25 Petty Cash 20.23 Forgotten Badge fund 6.00 Interest for September .74 SENIOR SERVlCFS COORDINATOR'S REPORT—Shawn Daly • Shawn introduced Sabrina Jones with Senior Services. Sabrina explained Senior Services is a non-profit organization throughout King County, they are putting on a workshop October 20 at the Renton Technical College from 5:30-8:30 PM entitled, "Aging Your Way: Conversations for Community change." This workshop will bring together baby boomers age 45-65 (and other ad�ults wMo plan to age); create a vision for your community that will support you as you age; brainstorm concrete projects; and, take steps to make these visions a reality in South King County. � Since no meetings were held in September Shawn met with Rosie and Pat last week; Rosie received five checks to deposit; she immediately deposited the checks; Pat & Rosie then went to J.C. Penny in Tukwila where someone broke into Rosie's car stealing the briefcase with all the checks and records. Rosie did a great job! She called the police right-away; more importantly, drove to the bank and closed the account. • The following checks received and others held from previous meeting for deposit: 1. $30 donation from Charlotte Klein in memory of Edie-Mae Lawyer. 2. $10 cash donation from Jim Trout in memory of Jerry Irwin. 3. $20 from William & Faye Moss for use of walker. 4. $25 Bob &Josephine Wixom in memory of Rena Lewis. . 5. $20 Cash from Jim (no last name given) in memory of Jerry Irwin. . . 6. $5 from Emilie McCue in memory of Mary Ciasen. 7. $50 from Virginia Grace in memory of Edie-Mae Lawyer. 8. $100 from the Bergquist family in memory of Jane & Vern Bergquist. 9. A $50 check made out to RCC from David & Karen Christopher for the meal program; Nutrition will have a credit; check deposited in our account, if there is something they need, we will have to pay for it; Shawn will check with Cher to see how she wants to handle it. � i Closed for twa weeks i�ptember far maintenance. Beams now standing are considered structurally sound. � Contractor coming to replace six windaws that dev�#aped leaks and creating fog between the double pane windows, R=CR�ATION D1RECfOR'S REPORT—Tim Wii(iams • Thanks to each and every one of you for your patience during the two week closure. • Library Lounge remodel is fabulous; loaks homey; Glassworks bowis a nice addition. • Last manth AARP was recognized at a City Cauncil meeting for their forty (40� years of service to the Renton cammunity. Thank you Mary Burns-Haley, Sandel Demastus and the AARP members and Soard Members that attended the meeting. � Two weekends ago larr�a! Crawford, who plays for the Atlanta Nawks, grew up in Renton played basketba{1 in Liberty Park. F!e was on the State Championship Team in Rainier Beach in 2001. Ne wanted to give back to the cammunity, which he did, $50,000 to redo the basketbal} courts in �iberty Park; plus maney far ten years of maintenance. � • When Sabrina spoke earlier regarding"Aging Your Way," it is a gaod step into a business plan for the ' senior center. What this business plan will Intei is where do we see the senior center ten years down the road; where are some other things we want to go. I wi(I be asking Shawn and Debbie to meet with the Senior Advisory Committee to gather two or three members to help with that business plan and possibly people from the community. � 2011 is our first year Biennium Budget. lf you recall the City went to a two ye'ar budget. Start working on our budget at least ane year in advance. Early next year working an budget for 2Q13. Working on our cost recovery expectation prograrn; senior center is a high priority. I was sa amazed with the craft roam; they removed cob webs, cleaned shelves that were empty, floor shiny, etc, Shawn said staff physically g.ot on their hands�and.knees, st-��rting at th� highest part and worked their way dawn.
