Minutes for December 20, 2010 Minutes ofthe prev�ous meet�ng er pp were approved. Ben thanked the valunteers who helped at the Blueberry Pancake Brunch held I on February 21. Shawn made a point at our last meeting; we started on time but quit rather late due to not having 6ut one meeting in �ebruary. We need to make sure our meetings start I at 20:00 a.m. and end by 11:00 a.m. TREASURER'S REPOR7--Treasurer, rose Warren, reported the faiiowing: Bank Statement $13,475.40 Emergency fund 203.25 Petty Cash 2d•23 Forgotten Badge fund 6.00 SENlOR SERVICES COQRDtNA7�R'S REPORT—Shawn Daly I • Debbie is an vacatian and returns tamorrow. + March 16 is the "50's Dinner& Dance." Maximum attendance is 240. D! coming plays , 50's music; serve hamburgers, fries and root beer flaats. Teen committee wi!! help serve. Cost I is $Z.OQ. This event is sponsored by Evergreen Piace Retirement Home. I ' • A month ago I had a meeting with the Nutritian staff to figure aut ways to irtcrease the lunch count. One thaught was an article in the Renton Magaiine about aur Nutritian Program. I spoke to the Editor to find out their policy and if they were interested in doing a story. He was � disappointed since they do not do stories on programs but more on peop(e invoiued in � programs to make it peaple oriented. He mentioned we have a couple people such as Verniece Lenius who are 141 years old and volunteers almost every day of the week and our new cook; Cher, who is doing a great job. The Editor is gaing to take the information back to her writers to see if they can do something. • Received $25 from Mary Ann Ellingson in memory of lrene Smith; $20 Clara and David lardan in memary of Adrian Morris; $20 danation from Richard and Virginia Maltea for free tax service and $10 from Carl Jahnsan for free tax service. * The foliowing letter received from Adrian Marris family. "i'hank yau for all you have done which made my father, Adrian, so dedicated to the Rentan Senior Center. It was his second nome and was always anxious to get down there on time. He had so much fun and � � ( # � * � loved it. He was very proud of the Center telling everyone it was the best in the State. He made many very dear friends and stayed so active because of all of you and all the Center � offered. Thank yau Adrian Morris Family." +� Michaei Nolan brought by one af the Cantractars last week to laok at a few things. Shawn will call Michaei to find out if he is available ta attend the next meeting on March 21 to get an update on where we stand. • Housing Fair for Senior Citizens on March 22 from 10:00-12:00 noon:-�Representatives fram Renton area senior housing communities available to answer questions about retirement homes, assisted living, apartments, low-income hausing etc. • Knights of Columbus free pancake breakfast, March 19, from B:OC�11:00 a.m. � Besz Cheney has a sheet of questions given to him by Darothy Cook from participants in the Ceramic class. He read a few af the comments and the rest of the questions given to Shawn. One camment—"an our lunches they have stapped the salad bar, it wauld be nice to start it �� once in a while." Shawn said this issue came up durirrg his meeting with Nutrition. Nutrition ' didn't think it mattered that much. Shawn was told it was a papu(ar item. Problem is new vendor they bid their meal without the ingredients for a salad bar. There is na maney. They do I serve a (ot of inea(s with a small salad. Saiad bar was purchased by the Advisory Board for over $2,000.00 and now sitting idle. This Cammittee needs to decide to have a fundraiser with the money going to support the Salad Bar. Tabled until next meeting for further discussion, OLD BUSINE55—Amending of the By-Laws. It was moved to change the age limit from 55 to 50 of the By-Laws. Motian Carried. Pat Baylar is the chairperson of the Historica! & Memorial Committee with Mary Burns-Haley and Sandra Poliey on the cor�mittee. To date put in 17 hours putting together and revamping files from 1986 to 2010.
