Attendance was taken. Minutes of the previous meeting were read, corrections noted and minutes approved. � Advisory Board voted on changing the sub-committees titles wnich are in the By-Laws. The bylaws may be amended by two-thirds (2/3) vote o�the members present at any regularly scheduled meeting of the Committee, provided notification and a co;�y of ihe proposed amend- ment has been given to the members at least seve� (7) days in advance of such meeting. Ben indicated there is no reason to wait on voting since crit�ria has been met. D Shawn stated the Committee still owes for the acoustical panels that were installed in the pool room; waiting on Michael Nolan to submit a bill. , a Kay Stone our secretary had hip surgery; she is doing well and on the road to recovery. � Ikuta Fund is over$635,000.00. It was donated to us by George and Janis Ikuta; back in 2009 a newspap2r did an article on them titled, "Leaving a Legacy During Tuff Times," it speaks about the donation; Sha�vn passed around the article. m Reminr��r: Thanksgiving Day Celebration, sponsored by Renton Rotary Club, N��ver��be� 22nd from 10:00-1:00 pm; Senior CenierThanksgiving Luncheon is November 21; tic'r,�rs ar� required and availabie beginning November 15t; cost: Senior Center Nutrition program is $�.���, Thanksgiving Day Celebration is free. a Clam Lights at Gene Coulon Beach is November 30tn g Minutes of October 15` mentioned the middle pool table has a one inch slit, on the rail, of tne new installed cloth. Shawn contacted the guy; he is returning to repair the cloth at no �charge. � � 9 Custodian bave bad news this morning. We have a leak in the roof again! Shawn ' received an e-mail saying a roofer will be out to look at it; this has been on-going for two years. Tim said it has been earmarked to do in the Capital Fund. I � � � �� One thing Sha�nin mentioned in the previous minutes he lied. He thou�h� it ��ias the case until after he read the Byla�vs. Minu�es mentioned — "A motion was made by Milt Tiede second by Marjorie Cochran-Reep io accept the Sub-Committee Titles presented by Sha�nm Daly. I Moved and passed by the commiitee." This is a �wo part prccess, that's t�e part I lied about. I Now�hat this is approved, a letter goes to the Mayo�, for his approval, �o make a recommend- � dation for sub-committee changes; bylaw wording will not chan�e, just the classification heading. V�/e don't ha�ie to do that. SylaUis state, you can make cnanges to the bylaws by t�nro- thirds voie o�the members; �nihich you already did. Shawn will have Kathie upda�e the changes of the s�anding sub-committees to reflect the proper ones; this does not have �o go to the I Mayor for apnroval. ' � Lillian Fornelia donated $4,000.00 to continue of�ering food at the Bazaar October 27th. , The amount is not known ho�ni much money is needed for food and hiring Cher to cook. Proceeds from the sale of the food will be returned to the Advisory Board to help offset the cost of the Volunteer Par�y in December. i Ben Cheney stated normal procedure is for the President of the Advisory Board to appoint a chairperson for the sub-committees. Ben �vill leave that responsibility for the new �resident elected for the year 2013. Shawn mentioned Ben was correct doing it this �vay since some members, up ror renev�ial, may not return next year. Sub-committees will remain intact. RE�REATION D1RLC�OR—Tim Williams � Norma and Kevin McQuiller are citizen's ef the year; on Thursday, October 18th a banquet will be held �o honor the couple. � Boo Carnival, October 27th, at RCC for pre-school and elementary kids. Downtown Trick or Trea� to follo�v. � Museum fundraiser, October 24th, held at the Ren�on Senior Center. � Communiiy in Schools fundraiser, October 25th, held at�h� Renton Senior Center. ;I � One hot but�on Tim would like the Advisory Board committee to lool< at is the Ex�ended ' r m ub-Commit�ee to see Travel program that was put on hold. Debbie wiil get wit5 the P ogra s S if�ve want to reinstate the Extended Travel Program. There were discrepancies whether or not n .: .: „ ���; we should be in this bi;i�y`'�S'liawn and Debbie are lool<ing at the Cities standpoini; Tim wants to know if the committee is supportive of that. � February 8, 2013 there will be a Father-Daughter Dance. Tim asked if the Senior Advisory Committee would be interested in sponsoring this event; as a volunteer or a donation for refreshments. Grandparents are welcome to bring iheir branddaughters ages 9-12; there wiil be a nominal fee. This event will be a comrr,unity event. Place for event has not been determined; looking at RCC or Renton Senior Cen�er. Shawn said if we donate money we will need to promote this as a senior event. � r Ben asl<ed the Nominating Committee to report back at the next meeting scheduled for November 5th. Committee members are Bill Clapp, Peggy Budziu and Dorothy Cook. Bylaws call for election of officers the first week in December. Shawn will try to get a commitment I from tne Mayor for installation of officers on January 7, 2013. Traditionally the Mayor has not ,, been available the month of January. If the Mayor is not available, current officers will remain ' as pro tem until February when the new officers are sworn in. . � I • • Round Table Discussio�: l�llilt iiede asked Uvhen �he Cra�� Bazaar is. Shawn said October 27th. There are 55 vendors. ' They �vill be in the audi�orium and craft room. Dorothy �aQ� said there is a problem with dogs in the building. They claim to be service dogs. One small rescued dog is placed on tables �vith its private par�s touching. Tables do not get vvashed do�vn; people are uncomfortable with the dog on the tables in the lunch room. I feel there should be a policy or guideline on service dogs. Shawn explained the situation. Dorothy is correct. We are developing a problem with dogs. V�/e have researched this and cannot other then ask the people if they are a service dog; that is all �ni� can do. li tney tell you they are a service dog then it is considered a service dog; they do , not have to put a collar stating it is a service dog. Law sta�es ii a person says it is a service dog they arz considered a service dog. At�his time �ve have 4-5 service dogs come to our facili�y. That does no� mean a dog should be on a table. That happened last ��ieel<, if I recall, Debbie and Lisa both responded. Discussion continued for about ten minutes. It was moved by Sandy Polley second by Peggy Budziu to have a written policy and guideline on service dogs. Mo�ion carried. Biil Clapp apposed. Tim mentioned any written policy will need to go throubh proper channels and aporoved by the attorney. Bil! �1app asked Uvhere we stand on the vote to ha�ie a fioat in next years' Renton River Days Parade. Shawn sta�ed no application is accepted until after the first of�`�e year; apblications are accepted up to one weel< before the event. �/e definitely decided to do the float; we will decide �vhat commii�ee to put it under.
