Any recycled materials (e.g. wood, brick, concrete, rebar, etc.) found in a truck load of streambed sediment or streambed cobbles, will result in rejection of that truck load of material. If two (2) truck loads from the same source are rejected by the Engineer, no additional streambed sediment or streambed cobbles will be accepted from that source. After acceptance by the Engineer, Streambed Sediment and Streambed Cobbles shall be thoroughly mixed on site into a well graded stockpile,to an approximated 50%to 50% ration by volume. Payment for mixing these materials on site shall be incidental to the unit price of both bid items. 8-19.3(3) Placement of Streambed Aggregates Placement of streambed aggregates shall be as shown in the Plans or established by the Engineer. Streambed Boulders shall be measured per each. Native Streambed Boulder shall be measured per each. 8-19.5 Payment "Streambed Sediment", per ton. "Streambed Cobbles 6 in.", per ton. "Streambed Boulder One Man", per each. "Streambed Boulder Two Man", per each. "Native Streambed Boulder One Man", per each. "Native Streambed Boulder Two Man", per each. Payment shall be made for the quantity of materials actually placed. Reason for Change: During roadway excavation, the Contractor encountered large native boulders in the fill behind the existing bridge abutments. These boulders were hard, sound and durable material; free from seams, cracks and other defects; round and sub-angular in shape. Rather than haul this material away and import new boulders, the Contractor was directed to sort, stockpile and install the native boulders where streambed boulders were shown on the plans. Those streambed boulders that were imported to the site and placed, are to be paid using the existing bid items STREAMBED BOULDER ONE MAN and STREAMBED BOULDER TWO MAN, at the associated unit prices. Those native streambed boulders that were recovered and installed, are to be paid using the new bid items NATIVE STREAMBED BOULDER ONE MAN AND NATIVE STREAMBED BOULDER TWO MAN using new unit prices. The bid item HEAVY LOOSE RIPRAP was not used because the quantity of Native Boulders was sufficient for many to be placed and fulfill the same purpose as the Heavy Loose Rip Rap shown in the plans.
