HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRE_SEA Stadium Verizon Wireless_Submittal_170711 PROJECT DESCRIPTION 7/7/17 Verizon – SEA Logan Ave. Proposal Project Description Verizon Wireless proposes to construct an unmanned telecommunications facility at Renton Memorial Stadium located at 406 Logan Avenue consisting of (8) panel antennas, and (2) microwaves within a concealment shroud on an existing 47.75’ South Grandstand (please see plans). In addition, ground based equipment is proposed near the parking lot area on the East side of the stadium, to be fenced, screened, and secured. Verizon is working with the Renton School District on the project which is located in the Urban Center (UC) zone. Concealment technology is proposed to screen the proposed antennas and to consolidate the rooftop equipment regarding the profile. The decrease in number of antennas and number of electronic equipment cabinets as compared to most WCFs, lessens the footprint of the proposed facility and as a result serves to mitigate potential impacts while enabling the ability for Verizon to provide adequate wireless services to the community and improve the Verizon Network performance within the City of Renton. Considerations  The UC zone where the property is located has mixed uses in an area, with high traffic patterns that include businesses, retail stores, restaurants, offices, services, and housing.  The proposal will not negatively impact parking. The proposed equipment cabinet area utilizes a previously unused area of the lot, and shall be protected by bollards.  The proposal is compatible with the use of the property and surrounding properties. There is an existing WCF on the stadium grandstand, therefore the proposal is in effect a collocation and the use of an existing structure reduces the number of self-support (towers) WCF structures needed in the area.  The proposed panel and microwave antennas shall be full concealed on the grandstand, and will also not project above the height of the existing stadium lights. As a result, the proposal will not negatively impact the building quality or surrounding area visually, as antennas and equipment shall be concealed and consolidated.  The proposal is in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws & ordinances including FAA and FCC.  The proposal does not include any use or activity incompatible with use of an airport or airfield, since the proposed WCF is less in height than other existing structures in the area.  The proposal will not result in any negative impacts on the human or natural environments, since the facility is in effect a utility and provides essential wireless communication services and benefits.  The proposal is to enhance the existing Verizon service as soon as possible given the need for adequate wireless service to the area during peak demands.
