Ihavelivedatmyaddressfor40+years.BelowisaquicksummaryofthechangesthatIhaveexperiencedconcerningtheRentonAirportduringthistime.1.Ihaveneverbeenwokenupatnightbecauseofairplanenoiseuntilthepastfewyears.2.Duringmy40+yearstherehasalwaysbeenairplanenoisebutithasnotbeenconstantforextendedperiodsoftimeuntilrecently.SeveralSaturdaysagoItimedthetakeoffs.Theyaveragedoneevery3-4minutesandcontinuedforthebiggestpartoftheday.3.Ilovetogardenandhaveinvestedalotoftime,energyandmoneyinmyyard.Increasinglybecauseofairplanenoisemyyardisalessthanenjoyableplacetobe.IhaveconcernsaboutusingthevegetablesthatIgrowbecauseofpossibleleadcontamination.4.OnbusyairportdaysifIwanttotalkwithneighborsoutdoorswehavetotrytotimeourconversationbetweenairplanesifwewanttoheardeachother.5.Inmy40+yearsIcan’trecallpeopletalkingaboutmovingoutoftFeareabecauseofairplanenoiseuntilrecently.6.TheRentonAirportsellsAVgasinthe100’softhousandsofgallons/year.TodaythisvalueisprobablyashighasYz-1milliongallonseachyear.Eachgalloncontainsabout2gramsofleadadditive.ThatworksouttothefollowingLeadvalues.a.200,000grams(441lbsor.22tons)oflead!100,000gallonsoffuel.b.1,000,000grams(2,204lbsor1.1tons)oflead!Y2milliongallonsoffuelc.2,000,000grams(4,409lbsor2.2tons)oflead!milliongallonsoffuel.Thisleaddoesnotdisappearwhenthefuelisburned.Itisemittedintheplane’sexhaustasafineparticulatethatsettlestothegroundwherepeoplecomeincontactwithit.Therearestudiesthatsupporttheclaimthatpeoplelivingunderrunwayshavegreaterleadexposure(indicatedbybloodleadlevels).Consideringthehealtheffectsofleadthisisveryconcerning.Sincerely,JeffDineen
