HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/26/2019 - Minutesn CITY OF RENTON ♦ '} ♦ LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS & FIREFIGHTERS DISABILITY BOARD N2p REGULAR MEETING MINUTES November 26, 2019 — 9:00 a.m. Renton City Hall —1st Floor HRRM Conference Room Attendees: Jim Phelan, Jim Matthew, Ed Prince, Leslie Clark, Wendy Rittereiser, Maria Sahagun Absent: Armondo Pavone, Russ Olson CALL TO ORDER LEOFF Board Jim Phelan called the meeting to order at 9:00 am. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Jim Phelan There were some corrections brought up regarding the minutes, as follows: Member at Large (Chair) Leslie requested to add dental benefits updates effective 1/1/2020. • Jim Phelan also clarified that he did not made some motions from the previous meeting Armondo Pavone rather it was Russ Olson. Council Member Ed Prince moved and Jim M seconded approval of the corrected October 22, 2019 minutes. Motion passed. Ed Prince OLD BUSINESS- None Council Member NEW BUSINESS — Jim Phelan requested to put Correspondence and Claims section under New Business in the future. James Matthew Fire and Emergency CORRESPONDENCE AND CLAIMS Services #8323- Request for approval for in -home health care. Retiree is requesting 8 hours a day, seven days a week, with a monthly cost of $7,776. The family will continue to provide other services, Russ Olson including evening and night care and assistance with transportation to doctor appointments, shopping and scheduling appointments and services. Police The Board reviewed the supporting documents (letter from the family and doctor's note). Wendy explained that she did researched within the local area and in -patient care that it would cost $500- $600/day (1 5k-1 8k/month) making in home care less expensive. Jim Matthews moved the request for reimbursement in home health care up to $7,776/month. Ed Prince seconded. Motion passed. Jim Phelan raised the question on what is the allowable amount for Long Term Care. Leslie reminded Jim that the dollar amount was remove when the LEOFF Board Rule, Rule V1.6, Nursing Facility Home Health Care was updated and approved by the Board last August 2019. ADJOURNMENT Meeting ended at 9:10am. POST -MEETING COMMENTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS: - The Board would like to change the December meeting from 12/24 to 12/17. Changing the meeting schedule requires notification to City Clerk, under Section 2.2. Meeting dates for the year could be established at the first mee ' g of each year.
