CALL TO ORDER In Attendance The following members were present: Members: Mike O'Donin,Troy Wigestrand, AI Dieckman, Larry Reymann, Marlene Winter Staff: Terry Higashiyama, Sandy Pilat, Leslie Betlach, Kelly Beymer, Bonnie Rerecich, Kris Stimpson, Kris Sorenson Guests: Pete Maas, Doug Kyes Chair, AI Dieckman, called the,June 15, 2011, meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Roll call was taken. Cynthia Burns and Tim Searing were not present at roll call. Sandy indicated they had both notified staff they would arrive late. A motion was made and seconded to excuse their absence, all were in favor, motion carried. II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA , Mike 0 Donin made a motion, seconded by Troy Wigestrand to approve the agenda as presented. All were in favor, motion carried,the June 2011 agenda was approved. II1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Marlene Winter and seconded by Mike O'Donin to approve the May minutes as written, all were in favor, motion carried. The May 2011 minutes were approved as submitted. IV. BOARD COMMUNICATION Troy Wigestrand commented on the successful Fishing Event he attended. There was great participation coupled with good weather. His neighbor attended and took his child on his 15Y fishing experience and they both enjoyed it so much. CONSENT N/A VII.DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS Creating a Clean Economy in Renton Leslie Betlach introduced Kris Sorenson, Assistant Planner. The Board members received a link earlier in the week to his presentation on the economy on the City's web site. Kris explained the goals and reasoning. The project goals ' included ➢ Reducing operating costs for both the City and community through energy-saving and resource-efficient measures. ➢ Understanding greenhouse gas impacts and identify cost-effective steps to reduce emissions and save energy. ➢ Capitalize on opportunities for funding and investment, including federal grants, state infrastructure funding, and other investments in the region. ➢ Identify new initiatives for a competitive, clean local economy and fulfill Renton's commitment to stay "Ahead of the Curve." Kris further reviewed the research,findings and recommendations. Kris fielded questions from the Board and staff. Leslie thanked Kris for the outstanding job and noted everyone really enjoyed the presentation. Overview of Planning Commission Joint Meeting , Leslie Betlach reviewed the handouts and amendments to notebooks and upcoming joint Park Board/Planning Commission meeting. Picnic Schedule Bonnie distributed the upcoming neighborhood picnic schedule and requested each Board member select a picnic to attend and assist staff at the city booth. She explained how the neighborhood groups apply for grant money for their neighborhoods by providing a potential project to be completed. li VIII. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Terry noted the Henry Moses Aquatic Center and beaches will be open on June 18 and summer camps and clinics begin June 27 and run throughout the summer. Two hundred summer staff have been hired. Our next meeting will �, feature a presentation and Risk Management Report from Robin Robertson, ', HR/RM. Terry also informed everyone that the 40 Rental site has been acquired � for the parks maintenance shop.
