Bear in mind I support and have compassion for all the homeless shelters in the City of Renton…like Vision House, Renton Housing Authority and others. The problem we have is compounded by the “Street People” that choose the crime, drug, prostitution and alcohol abuse as a life style. Please let me assure you that under no circumstances will the Renton City Council support closing this facility in the middle of the winter and during the pandemic. For your information, the Renton Hearing Examiner ruled that King County needs to apply for a temporary permit by June 2021, which will allow them to continue using this facility during the pandemic while the city keeps working to find permanent housing for its residents. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. CAUTION: This email originated from outside the City of Renton. I work and sell Renton to new homeowners in mainly the Renton area. My son purchased a home 2 years ago adjacent to Talbot Hill Elementary. There is a shift of people that live in Seattle coming to Renton to avoid the mess that has been created by policies from the Seattle City Council. This shift of people has caused a rapid market value increase in affordable entry level single family homes in the Renton area. Please do not Seattle my Renton by allowing the mess Seattle has created to migrate from Seattle to Renton. King County and Seattle created the situation for the Covid-19 shelter. Force them to retain it with in their boundaries so they can fix it. Reject the ordinance created by Chip Vincent CAUTION: This email originated from outside the City of Renton.
