Subject:Renton Resident Supports Red Lion Homeless Shelter
Dear Council Members,
I'm writing you to let you know that I strongly support the use of the Red Lion Inn as a ho meless shelter. Giving homeless
people a place to live is foundational towards helping rebuild their lives.
I'm proud that our community has welcomed these people. I'd be very disappointed in your leadership if you allowed
this facility to shut down.
I'm concerned that additional restrictions and punitive measures are being discussed in relation to shelters in Renton.
Making these people's lives more difficult with additional rules will do nothing to help them.
They need resources to help them recover and become productive members of the community: addiction treatment,
mental health care, and money to buy necessities.
I ask you to treat the homeless with kindness and respect, to give them the resources and time they need to recover.
