Your application and the required documents must be submitted using a secure file share link provided by CED Permit staff. 1. When you are ready to submit email: permittech@rentonwa.gov with the following information: • Application Type • Address of Proposed Work • Project Name A secure file share link will be created for you to upload your application and plans/documents. Submittals will be reviewed for completeness by Permit Staff within 5 business days of your submittal. ALL POOLS, HOTS, OR SPAS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE 2018 INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING POOL AND SPA CODE 1. Completed and signed Building Permit Application. 2. Site Plan drawn to scale (1”=20’) showing location of pool, hot tub, or spa and showing required fence or enclosure. 3. A fence completely enclosing the pool, hot tub, or spa. The enclosure shall be a minimum of 4 feet in height. • Maximum spacing between finish grade and the bottom of the enclosure shall be 2 inches. • Maximum spacing between vertical members shall not exceed 4 inches. • Maximum spacing between horizontal members shall not exceed 1 ¾ inches. • Maximum spacing between diagonal members shall not exceed 1 ¾ inches. EXCEPTION TO THE FENCE REQUIREMENT: A residential swimming pool with a power safety cover or a residential spa with a safety cover complying with ASTM F 1346 does not require a fence enclosure. 4. If there are any gates in the fence they must be self-latching and have a latch not readily accessible to children. • Pedestrian access gates shall be self-closing and have a self-latching device. • The release mechanism shall be located on the pool side of the gate at least 3 inches below the top of the gate. • Maximum spacing between fence members shall not exceed ½ inch within 18 inches of the release mechanism. RESIDENTIAL INSTALLATIONS: SWIMMING POOL / HOT TUB / SPA PERMITS INCLUDE ANY ASSOCIATED MECHANICAL AND PLUMBING WORK AND INSPECTION.
