This application must be filled out completely in order to be submitted for review. We will not accept incomplete applications. Once issued, an
A-Frame Sign Permit is good the life of the business. If a business changes names, a new permit will need to be applied for. Please see the Sign
Regulations for more information.

Refer to the current City of Renton Fee Schedule
• No sign may be great than 32 inches wide and 36 inches tall.
• Signs may be placed on public sidewalk abutting the business or within landscape strip abutting the business. A-Frame signs
cannot be placed off site. See Sign Regulations for other information.
• No sign shall be located as to pose a traffic vision hazard.
• Sign/s must be professionally manufactured.
• A-Frame signs shall not be displayed during non-business hours.
• A Frame signs are good for the life of the business.

will be met. Certification is hereby rendered that no work is to be done except as described, and that all work shall conform to applicable codes.
Work in public rights-of-way and/or utility easements are not authorized under this application. Fees to be paid at permit intake.

Hereby agrees to Defend, Indemnify, and Hold Harmless the City of Renton, its employees and agents, from any and all claims
of whatever nature for any loss, injury, damage or attorney’s fees which may arise from the suit of or placement of the “A-Frame”
sign as described in the Sign Permit Application submitted herewith. Further, the Applicant agrees to provide proof of insurance
acceptable to the City of Renton and naming the City of Renton as an additional insured.
In the event the City of Renton or its employees or agents bring an action to enforce the terms of this Agreement, the City of
Renton, its employees or agents are entitled to recover its/their attorney’s fees and costs in such enforcement action.

A-FRAME DISPLAY REGULATIONS
Within Center Downtown (CD) Zone:
NUMBER PERMITTED: One per business, per street frontage at business location.
PERMITTED LOCATION: Place against the building from which the business operates.
PEDESTRIAN CLEARANCE: A minimum of four (4) feet of unobstructed sidewalk is required. If sidewalk
is not four (4) feet or more in width, the sign cannot be on sidewalk.
OTHER REGULATIONS: Rules regarding clear vision area, size, construction specifications,
maintenance and appearance, landscaping, display times and permit number
display, as listed below, also apply.
Outside Center Downtown (CD) Zone:
NUMBER PERMITTED: One per business per street frontage at business location, and one against the
building from which the business operates.
PERMITTED LOCATION: Sign may be placed on public sidewalk abutting business, or within the
landscape abutting the business.
PEDESTRIAN CLEARANCE: A minimum of four (4) feet of unobstructed sidewalk area is required. If the
sidewalk is not four (4) feet or more in width, the sign cannot be on the
sidewalk.
CLEAR VISION AREA: No sign shall be located as to pose a traffic vision hazard.
SIZE: No sign may be greater than 32 inches wide and 36 inches tall.
CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATION: Signs must be professionally manufactured.
MAINTENANCE AND APPEARANCE: All signs shall be in good repair and neatly painted. No attachments to signs
are permitted.
LANDSCAPING: Alteration of landscaping in any manner is strictly prohibited.
DISPLAY TIMES: A-frame signs shall not be displayed during non-business hours.
PERMIT NUMBER DISPLAY: Permit numbers, a minimum of one half (1/2) inch in height, displayed in the
upper left-hand corner of the exterior face of the sign by the permit applicant.
DEFINITION OF SHOPPING CENTER: A group of buildings, structures and/or uncovered commercial areas, or a
single building containing four (4) or more individual commercial
establishments, planned, developed and managed as a unit related in location
and type of shops to the trade areas that the unit serves.
