Introduction of Guests: Dri Ralph, Facilities Design Coordinator for KCLS and Long Tran Film- maker, Renton Ratchets Productions. • Downtown and Hi�hlands Artwork-Dri Ralph presented examples of the art work from the three artists commissioned to provide art for the Downtown and Highland libraries. The artists were selected by a Selection Committee comprised of KCLS employees,City of Renton employees and a member of the RMAC. Downtown-Benjamin Moore,Glass � Artist,will create 30 works with a "Circle Theme"to be placed over the Children's area. Hi�hlands- Ethan Murrow,Fine Artist will create large line drawings and Anna Fiddler, ,: Fine Artist will create a large painting. The works will reflect a "Flight Theme". The KCLS art budget for powntown was$60,000 and$70,000 for the Highlands. • Small Grant Avuard-Long Tran,Renton Ratchets Productions,showed some clips from videos/films he made. Tran is a Renton High School student and film making is his � passion. The$500 Small Grant will allow him to buy camera and lighting equipment. Currently, his films/videos can be seen on YouTube under Renton Ratchet. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the March 3,2015 RMAC meeting were read and accepted as submitted. MSC(Paul/Mary) New Business• , • 2015 RMAC Retreat Advance Plannin�—Jay Coving#on,City of Renton Chief , , Administrative Officer will facilitate our retreat. It will be held from 4:00—7:00 pm on either 5/20 or 5/21: Location TBD. Discussion topics include: More community access , to the IPAC;City financial support increase of RMAC; 1%for Arts revision; new arts and culture policies; Renton Municipal Code regarding art; and City advocacy for the arts. • Vacant RMAC Youth Position—Some interest was expressed by an 11 year old author. It was MSC that the youth be given an interview for consideration. (Paul/Neil) Kim and Neil,volunteered to do some outreach at local middle and high schools as well as colleges to get more youth interested in membership on the RMAC. � ---� _-� � ' • RIVIAC Facebook and Other social Media—The City's webpage has limited information about the RMAC, It was discussed that more options are needed for more viability. Elizabeth will check the process for updates and content with the designated staff. • RMAC Meetin�Time—The meetings start time of 4:30 pm is becoming difficult for ; several members. It was suggested that a later time be considered. Elizabeth will , ��-: conduct an email poll to see if 5:00 or 5:30 would be better. - Old Business: • Downtown Public Librarv Art Relocation—Jaris,Jerri,and Mitch met to discuss other options to the plan move the"Stiltwalker"sculpture near the front door of the new _ library entrance and its close proximity to"Homework Comes First" sculpture. They wrote a memo to Capital Project Coordinator,Todd Black with the RMAC concerns and recommendations: Art should be relevant to the new building and designed specifically for it, lighting is needed and a conduit should be installed during the construction,the "Stiltwalker"should remain in Liberty Park and be cleaned before re-installation. Finally, City administration should be approached to use 1%for Art funds for a new commissioned work for the new Downtown library. • Committee Reqorts: The on-line�rant application for grants from the 4Culture award needs to be up,dated. � Deadline for applications is end of May and awards are given in June. Elizabeth will do the update. Renton River Davs—RMAC has to decide if we want to participate this'year.
