Call to Order: The meeting was,called to order by RMAC President, Peter Hartley at 4:38 pm , - Guests: Seattle UniVersity�City Soil,Project-. Allison Mounfjoy, Project Manager,7anie Bube, and.Fiona Wong Presentation: Representatives.from the 9eattle Uniyersity Urb'an Agriculfure Project gave a Power Point presentation about"City Soil"to the RMAC. The project is 3%years.into its 5 year contract and is expected to have continued support from Seattle University. Basically,the project explores and develops susfainable use of _ non-traditional (industrial)sites.and the ar.t of salvage. Their current Renton Urban.Agriculture project is located : _ _ at the corner of Oakesdale and Grady(near the V1/aterworks installation and the Metro Waste Treatment � facility). Produce grown from the project will be given to the Renton Food Bank. They proposed several.options for"Living Fences" as the signage fo identify the location. They are also exploring a partnership with the Renton Technieal College for a rooftop garden.. lt was recommended that they look on;the RMAC we6site for tHe Small _ _. Grants Application to make a formal,request for our suppo,rt. It was.also mentioned that 4Culture might be another resource for them. � Appointment of Ser�eant-of-Arms: Peter announced that the RMAC meetings could benefit from a Sergeant= _ of-Arms position. They would be responsible.for making sure our agenda and:discussions stayed within the - allocated time.: Mitch Shepherd agreed to accept the position beginning with this meeting. Approval of Minutes: Minutes of the February 4,2014 RMAC were:approved.with one correction. See page 2, paragraph 1;ancl the last sentence. "TY had some specific ideas and will meet with Peter for further discussion on-organizafion for project-.'based tasks. Change to: "Ty proposed a framework for structuring committees. Peter requested that he and TY meet separately to discuss TY's ideas further." Minutes were accepted with the correction. (Moved—Mitch/Seconded—Natalie) Correspondence and Announcements: The correspondence and event folders were circuleted for individual : review. • The Seattle University Urban Farm Project, "City Soil", is conducting a ''Work and Learn" day on March 8tn from 9:00=1:00. .Rev.iew their website: citvsoilfarm:or� for more details and future events. , � The Mayor appointed the following RMAC-members for another 3 year term: Natalie Gress, Paul Hebron, Bill Huls and Marsha Rollinger. _ i. , , . . . The e�ent:has : . been a huge success with over 23 film-rriaking teams entering the Freniy last year:: The screenings have had � standing room.only attendance atthe Renton Givic Theater. Howe.v.er, in the.past mosf of the fun.d.ing has' emphasized the"Gala Event"which has not been well attended: " , . The Film Frenzy Comm.ittee present.e.d a draft ,of a resolution for R.MAC review; The RMAC resolqtion sfates the „ importance of the Annual Film Frenzy to the City of Renton and fhat it should be confinued,with City of Renton support and funds. It wasrepo:rted that since the Planning and Development Gommittee ofthe City Council has ' oversight of the Film Frenzy the resolution should be presented to them at their next meeting on March 6,2014. Tfie.resolution was approved for:presentation to the Planning and Development Commiftee at:their next. _ meeting on March 6,2014. (Moved=Evelyn/Seconded- Michelle) �, � Committee.Assi�nments .=The RMAC Committees-2014(draft) that was discussed at th'e last meeting has.been revised to reflect all the RMAC members areas of interest. The City of Rento.n has allocated staff to support our website redesi n an.d updates.1 g -She is;Beth Haglund. Peter Hartley, R;M..AC Pres.ident and other members of the Executive Committee will periodically meet with committees on a regular basis to ensure to support our - objectives. Grants Application Form-O.ur grant application was modified with minor revisions to be in line witfi the 4 Culture report requirements once the grant has been used. The contract language and follow-up requirements _ .. _ .. were accepted-and the application will be immediately placed on the RIVIAC website. Old Business: � Goin�Glob'al Update—A protective coating was added to the globes for better,safety. Benson Shaw is in the process of developing a mainfenance schedule. (Completion TBD) , , Emer�in�Update—The sculpture is undergoing investigation by ArtTech to determine repair requirementsand , costs because significant damage was#ound after it was removed from its Carco site. The amount of$20,000 was allocated in_the Transportation budget for reinstallation at the Garden Ave location, including$9,300 � allocated in the.budget for repairs. The estimate will be reviewed by the RMAC once,it is submifted. Four Cows Proiect Update—RMAC selected artist;John Sisko, has submitted his second design for the Shattuck Ave location. The first design that includetl a carousel was rejected because of potential liability: The new design invades the Burlington Northern Rail Road right of way and they won't make:an exception: To date the artist has been paid $7,250 for both designs. The South Renton Neighborhood Committee,which is a huge stakeholder in this project;'has envisioned a more"interactive" installation,which the latest design does not � provide. After discussion, it was decided that the RMAC and'the South Renton Neighborhood Committee � ; ' , needed to meet together and determine their design requirements.
