There were no amendments and agenda stands as is. , APPROVAL OF AGENDA/MINUTES — The minutes for the October 21st meeting were read, correction noted and minutes were approved. - PRESIDENTS REMARKS: Pat recapped the status of the ads that will be in the Renton Reporter. � TREASURER REPORT: Sandra Polley Bank balance as of 10/31/14 $20;395.39 � RECREATION SUPERVISOR: Shawn Daly , Shawn had a thank-you note from the Renton Museum thanking us for the use of our facility . A sign-up sheet was passed to members and they were asked to include their e-mail addresses if they had not already done so. Shawn addressed the three articles that were in the Renton Reporter Senior Resource Guide ' � and he expressed appreciation to Sandy Polley for her help in proofing and getting the articles , in the paper. ' Shawn received a call from a women involved in the Fall Festival wishing .to confirm that we have a group coming Friday November 7th. That was confirmed. Shawn had a check from Lottie Calhoun in the amount of $250.00 and a request from Lottie that she would like to see that;money go for tee-shirts for the teams involved in Bean Bag BasebalL This is an activity that Lottie has always had a special interest in. Shawn suggested tee-shirts printed with Renton Senior Bean Bag Baseball be purchased at a cost of approximately $300 - > $350 dollars. Milt Tiede made a motion to that effect and Peggy Budziu seconded the motion. � Members voted and motion was passed. i . � � , � � �°_ ; Page 2 cont. - ' The Holiday Craft Bazaar was held and Treasurer Sandy Polley has given me a check for$150 that � goes to Cher for providing lunch menu. That was taken out of money donated by Lillian Fornelia. We are looking at really great entertainment for the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. The entertainment is going to run$800 and Shawn is asking Treasurer 5andy to write a deposit check in the amount of$400. Shawn will need another check for the balance of$400 in three to four weeks. Those monies will be refunded to the committee as this cost is being paid by money in the Renton Community Foundation. Bill Clapp made a motion that we extend$800 towards the entertainment cost with the agreement that it be reimbursed, Marge Cochran seconded the motion and the committee approved. Shawn also requested a check for_$400 for gift cards from Safeway. These,are for the Thanksgiving Dinner sponsored by the Renton Rotary Club on Thanksgiving Day. The Rotary - provides dinner and we provide gift cards for the various games and activities. Marge Cochran made a motion to approve the $40.0 and Peggy Budziu seconded, the committee approved the motion. � � � Shawn acknowledged the great job the front desk volunteers are doing in obtaining the recreation survey forms from seniors coming to the center. There is a new mural on the wall leading into the kitchen area.The Special Population participat��� contributed this mural they painted. If you have not noticed the mural take the time to look and see what an added attraction it is to that wall. � . A recap on the Wednesday evening attendance. Last week there were a_pproximately 50 . particip�t'� Having the center open one evening per week was on a .trial basis and we will continue for the first six months starting the first of next year. The hope is�attendance will pick up as it seems to be doing each week and we will continue staying open Wednesday evenings. RECREATION COORDINATOR-Debbie Little Starting a new month we have Introduction to Ballroom, Swing and Latin dance. �Classes are Wednesday.1:15—2:15. OtMer dance classes being ofFered are Learn to Dance—Level 2, Learn � to Dance—Level 3, Line Dance—Beginning, and Line Dance—Intermediate. Check your Golden Opportunity brochure for day of the week and times. There are many oppo.rtunities for classes and activities being offered 'during the month of November. For example; Bunko Tuesdays,. Driftwood Sculpture, a trip to White River ` Museum/Sunbreak Cafe pres.enting 100 years of shoes, and continuation of the cooking workshops. Some special events are the Holiday Craft Bazaar, Chicken Soup Day and the Trash or Treasure; Antique Appraisal show. Just a reminder the Senior Activity Center will be closed November 11th in observance of Veterans Day. . . � a` . ` � , , a � , , , \ Page 3 cont. DIRECTOR/ADMINISTRATOR REPORT—Kris Stimp`son , In response to the inquiry about channel 21 and why we are not able to-access the Renton River ; Days parade. Kris is still looking into this and the communication people are also trying to get an answer. Kris will get back to us when she gets an answer. � - The Hassle Free Holiday Bazaar is being held Friday and Saturday, November2l-22"d' The bazaar is held at the Renton Community Center. Friday shop from 11:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m. and Satur.day shop from 9:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. - Kris distributed to the members a printout of the goals for 2014 that the members had submitted. Kris read the items on the printout and critiqued some items and members were asked to review these goals and at the next meeting we will go over the list and edit a�nd make any additions that are necessary. � � WRITTEN and/or ORAL COMMUNICATION— Milt Tiede distributed revised Sub-Gommittee Concerns, Compliments and Conducts,sheets to inembers. A corrections was noted and Milt Tiede made a motion the revised form be accepted, Karla Nuss seconded and committee approved, motion passed. - . On November 11th at 10:00 a.m.the American Legion will be dedicating a plaque to all the souls \ lost at sea in the pursuit of world peace. This ceremony will be held to the south of the center. building near the flag pole. - � Karla Nuss inquired whythere is no handicap parking behind the Renton Museum. Kris Stimpson is going to look into this and see if the situation.can be corrected. � Sandy Polley distributed a brochure pertaining to booksh.elves for installation in the game room. ' This would�be used to store purses and etc. Shawn said there are.other options instead of a bookshelf. The committee members had discussion regarding this issue and it was decided to shelf this issue until a later meeting and Shawn and Mij will look into the problem. Dorothy Cook had a discussion with Shawn regarding.placement o# parade pictures and the � plaque. The library was suggested as a good place to display these items. Ruby Griffin gave her report on visitors to the senior center.
