there were none.

minutes of August 8th were read, and minutes were approved.
PIZESIDEl�T'S �MA�tKS—President Pat Baylor asked Kris Stimpson to swear in the �
new Advisory Board Members. New member Charles Robinson Position#2 and Karla _
Nuss Position#9 were sworn in as new members of the Advisory Board.

Debbie requested that a thank you from Sara A Canuing Treasurer of AAR.P Chapter 414
be read thanking the Renton Senior Activity Center. A1so enclosed was a check in the .
amount of$100.00. The end of December 2014 the AARP Chapter 414 will no longer
have offices in Renton.
A suggestion was made to send flowers to Shawn Daly. Marge Cochran made a motion
to that effect an.d it was seconded by Peggy Budziu. Marge will take care of ordering
flowers.

Tuesday August 19�'an Orca representative will be at the center, 11:00 am— 12:00 pm.
Thursday August 21St we have a trip to Crystal Mountain to ride the Mt. Rainier Gondola.
Thursday August 21 and Thursday August 28�' are classes for the AARP Smart Driver
class.
Wednesday August 27�'we will be celebrating National Banana Split Day. Contest at �
11:15 and lunch at 11:3 0.

Wednesday August 27�'the Book Club meets from 10:00 am— 11:30 a.m.
Tuesday August 26�'Dan Kellogg will be at the center providing legal information. This
is by appointment only.
Thuxsday August 28�'the Doubles Pool Tournament will be held at 9:30 a.m.
Come and enjoy the Adios Fiesta celebrating the end of suziuiier. There will be a
Mariachi Band and Flamenco Dancers. Mark your calendars, Friday September 12�' at
11:30.

At the August 4�'meeting Kris had stated we would go over the goals proposed by the
Board at our August 18�'meeting. That is being postponed until our October 6�'meeting.
Shawn, Debbie and Kris did a walk through of the facility with the facility team. The
team consists of both facility and maintenance. In addition to the list compiled by the
board committee members we have added a need for storage in the Gatne Room, cabinets
need to be cleaned, screen door by kitchen repaired,rails on chair for welcome volunteers
area. Milt suggested that the report compiled by board members should have been
submitted sooner so the committee could critique and refine the list. Marge Cochran
made a motion to implement a process as suggested by Milt and Bill Clapp seconded the
motion. The motion was passed by members.

Milt had questions regarding the new visitors check list. After reviewing the list Milt
found welcome desk volunteers are not always filling out the question in the form on
what brought new visitors to the Senior Center. President Pat suggested she.will address
this issue and insure that volunteers understand what needs to be filled out.
Marge Cochran's Programs and Marketing Sub Comrrvttee will tentatively meet Monday
, August 25�'at 10:00 am.

President Pat Baylor reported for Sandy Polley the results Sandy had found out about the
ad in the Renton Reporter. At a previous board meeting committee members inquired as �
to the cost of the ad,whether we qualify as a non-profit organization and do we have a
page preference when the ad is placed. Liza with the Renton Reporter responded that the
price quoted of$784.00 is a non-profit price. Also, if Liza is notified in advance she
would do her best to place the ad where we request. There is an additional cost for a
guaranteed placement of an ad. There are requirements for the size of the ad if you want
a guaranteed ad. Milt made a motion to the board for Marge and San.dy to go ahead and
negotiate with Liza at the Renton Reporter and run the ad. Marge Cochran seconded the
motion and the comm.ittee approved.

"Where is the Duck?" and where is the plaque? The Duck is being stored at Bill
Clapp's. Bill has the plaque and will put together pictures.

be included on committee member list. There was no objective to this suggestion.
- Bill Clapp has volunteered to write thank-you notes to Maintenance and Parks and
Recreation for their efforts in our behalf.
