The minutes of July 21�were read, conections were noted and mi.nutes.were approved. � PRESIDENTS REMARI�S—President Pat Baylor had thank you gift cazds and thank � you cards to be signed by committee members. Also, Pat passed around pictures taken the day of the parade of the Advisory Board Members.amazing duck float TREASURER REPORT: Sandra Polley No,changes to Bank Balance same as of July 21,2014 $21,9'S1.62 , Atthis time no changes to Pazade/float expenditure to date$1.,102.37 RECREATION SUPERVISOR: 'Sha.wn Daly/Debbie Little for Shawn Daly Debbie had a check from Lottie Calhoun in the amount of$250.00. Check was given to Treasurer Sandy Polley. Sandy inquired if�Debbie had a receipt for the$450.00 that was . approved for Bingo gift cards. Debbie will locate the receipt and give it to Sandy. _ Shawn will go i.n for knee�replacement surgery on August 18�and will be on leave for 7 weeks. We all�wish him a speedy recovery. Debbie commended those who participated in the float proj ect for the Renton River Days Parade. This was an outstandi.ng effort on the part of all who participated in a really impressive duck float. � RECREATION COORDINATOR—Debbie Little � Debbie is making progress on scheduling Wednesda.y night classes. These will be in the October,November,December Golden Opportunities brochure. Debbie was able to_. secure a date for the Antique Appraisal Event Show to be at the center on November 12�'. Northwest Senior Caze is co-sponsoring with the Renton Senior Activity Center. People will be allowed to bri.ng two items to be appraised. This will be open to,the public. Again,that will be held November 12�'from 6:30 P.M.—8:30 P.M. We're asking for a V $5 donation per item with the money going to the Renton Senior Activity Center. � 'e. � � � � P�������������I���`� � ,., � � �,.,� . Last week we did a waik on feny ride to Bainbridge Island. .It was a great trip and � �' enjoyed by aII,but a littie hectic due to it being Seafaix week. This week we have Ride - � " -�ke Ducks on Thursday. , August 5�`and Augast 12�'a speaker will be at the center conducting a seminar on `°Living Longer,Living Smarter—Plauning for Yaur Retirement" Spa,ce is 1'i.mited and we are requesting pre-registration. Se�inar hours will be 12:30 P.M.—2:30 P.M. This seminar is put on byA�A.RP. The candidates would begiii serving Januaty 1,2015. Committee._ ' members are asked not to divulge the names of these candidates until the mayor approves � the recommendation. , i Bill Clapp developed two l.etters to be sent to Ms Appel,Pazks Dept.Main Supervisar � and Mr.Laney; Central Puget Saund Carpenters Local 3Q. In addition ta these two letters Bill is alsfl going to write a letter to the Styrofoam Company that provided Styrafoam for the duck. That was exceeded , by$204.74 and Bill requested a motion be made to increase the buclget by$300.00. Milt Tiede made a motion to that effect,Marge Cochran seconded, and motion passed. Bill Clapp brought up the issue of what to do to store the duck. Bill will do some checking and get back to us next meeting on"Where is the Duck". Bill had the plaque that was awarded to the Renton.Senior Activity Centers entry.of the float for Renton River Days. We were awarded the Spirit of Renton award. Bill is going _ to do a collage of pictures from the parade and include the plaque. He will report back on where the plaque will be and what will be included. y COMNIITTEE MEMBER REPORTS Mij Chazbonneau has prepared a two page report on results of inspection of grounds and ` inside projects that need to be included during the two week closure: � Ruby Griffin ga've a report on the number of new visitors to the Renton Senior Activity Center. Ruby shared two inspiring stories of two visitors who came to the center. � OLD BUSINESS � "Where is the Duck?"and where is the plaque? NEW BUSINESS � PUBLIC COMIVIENTS— Peggy Budziu had concern that the Renton Reporter did not give any recognition to the Renton Senior Activity Center float.
