One in the amount of $125.00 and another for $250.00. Lottie has been ill and was bringing herself current with her monthly ; donations of$125.00. � Shawn talked to Elaine Koehler and she has decided to step down from serving on the Advisory . Board. The Mayor.sent Elaine a thank you letter for the many years of service that she has . given to the Renton Senior Center. Shawn suggested Elaine attend a meeting where the board . _ could acknowledge her and hono.r her service and Elaine wished to decline. She expressed appreciation to the board and staff for all the support she has received over the years. ����'��Q s,: r� ,�-��t��E�er�.rr�� �m� -� � .s.f..� tn ,4 confirmation letter has been, received from the Renton Farrners Market tha on June 17 we - will have a community booth on the Senior Center and it's events at the market. The time will ' be 3:00 P.M.—7:00 P.M. We need to be there at 2:30 to set up. � _ The memorial stand has arrived and been assembled and installed in the "library.� Shawn suggested to Pat Baylor that it would be ni,ee to have a plague above the stand to acknowledge the memorial books. Pat will discuss this later-in the meeting The fire drill was held at the center on Monday, April 1st and ,went very well. It was great 1 training for the staff but it was equally great for the Fire department to do it., Shawn received a � , , . � 1,; . . . � ^—y�� , ,— � s. ` 1 � 1 � . , - . ' -. , ' ;�' . ^,t � . � . . � . . . '� I nice e-mail from Lt. Steve Winter of the.Renton Fire Department. Shawn asked Kay to read the � e=mail. . Two projects that are planned either prior to the center two week closure or during the closure , is outdoor light'ing and repair to the elevator. The elevator repair is going to be quite'extensive and�will involve up to 3 weeks of being out of service. Shawn reminded members that the Senior Stage Revue at Carco Theatre will be performing � Thursday May 15th at 1:00 P.M. and Friday May 16th at 7:00 P.M. A sign-up 'sheet was distributed and members were encouraged to volunteer for one or both performances to assist in taking tickets, directing seating and manning the refreshment bar. ' . Shawn and Pat Baylor met and discussed replacing Elaine Koehler's position on the board. The _ April brochure has already gone out so it is too late to advertise tfie position in the brochure. Traditionally available positions are advertised in the Golden Opportunities brochure. We will do that for the July,August and September brochure.The reason for w.aiting is when we get our list it needs to be valid for two years. On June 15t flyers will be posted at the center and also in � June we will put.a notice in the Renton Reporter and run that for two weeks. When the brochure comes out July 15t the position would be posted for a minimum of two weeks�and we would look at doing interviews the third or fourth week of July. Milt Tiede made a motion that the procedure�for obtaining applicants for board positions be accepted, Marge seconded the motion and board members accepted the motion. RECR�A7"10�! COORDIi�AYOR — Debbie Little � . Debbie reported that a great time was had by all who took the trip to Peoria for IVlariner Spring Training. Renton Senior Center was part of a larger group that was run through the Washington . State Association of Senior Centers. The total number attending through other Senio.r Centers , was 53. � It's that time of the year. Senior softball season has started. Games are played Tuesday/Thursday 9:30 A.M. — 11:30. Marge Reep Cochran said if any women are interested they could use your,help. , Something new! Basic Conversational Spanish classes will meet every Wednesday starting April 23rd and concluding May, 28th. Class times are 1:00 P.M. — 2:00 P.M. Pre-registration is � required. � � AED/CPR Training will meet Tuesday/Thursday.starting May 6th.and concluding May 8th. Classes � � held 1:00 P.M.=3:00 P.M. After the meeting we will have a tour of the Center of Hope. - � � - � - Kris had an update that came from the markefing committee. A video was made of activities at the senior center to be used on channel 21. Debbie sent Kris a draft of the video and Kris was impressed by the quality. It has music and verbiage, but will need a couple of things added before it is complete. When it is complete the board members will have a pre�iew of the video. � A list of Senior Advisory Committee and Staff Goals and Project List for 2014 was distributed fio , . board members. Kris asked if the members would like to prioritize the list and there were several sugges'tions, regarding priority. Kris will revise the list to reflect input from b�oard members and bring it to a future meeting. . , � �Y�rry— Sunday there was 'a celebration for Sandel DeMastus. She had been very actiye in the A.A.R.P. program. She served on the state board of A.A.R.P. and also represented seniors in legislative issues in Olympia. � � � Previously Terry had talked about what plans there are for downtown Renton. At a future time . Terry recommended inviting Cliff Long or Chip Vincent attend a board meeting and share the ; plans for downtown Renton. , ' �1lRITT�RI and/or ORAL �OfVi9!lYUf�ICA'fION — Pat had talked to Shawn regarding a suggestion ' Bill Clapp had made about developing a volunteer list with names and phone numbers. The-list � � . � " would be posted on the announcement board so any interested parties could sign-up. This would be very effective for projects such as the parade float. Peggy made a motion that this ' volunteer.list be generated and Marge seconded the motion. Special Projects committee list and chairperson on the Code of Conduct, Concerns and _ Compliments committee as she will be retiring from the board effective sometime in May. Milt Tiede will replace Judith as chairperson on the Code of.Conduct committee. Pat asked Peggy to pass on to Dorothy Cook information on the Historical and Memorial.files. � Dorothy will chair that committee. Also, Pat requested that Dorothy, Kay and Eric submit ideas for wording on the plaque to commemorate the Memorial Books. - Shirley Haddock is chairperson on the Health Services committee and Pat would like Shirley and . her.committee to report once a month on the blood pressure and foot care programs offered at . the center. Also, include the numbers of rentals of wheel chairs,walkers and etc.. , �� � � � � � � , � � , � �� • . ; .. �LD �U�1�9��� — Milt Tiede addressed the Project Sheet that Bill Clapp had developed and �$ distributed a couple of ineetings ago. That sheet consisted of three pages and it was decided to � consolidate it down to one page. Milt condensed it and made a motion that that revision be accepted. Kay seconded the motion and the board voted and accepted the motion. Bill Clapp will submit cost and hours for the float project at the next meeting. �U��9� COflf�fVd�f�Y�.� Ruby and Peggy sfiared an A.A.R.F. meeting was held at their housing park and in addition to information about A.A.R.P. they had the opportunity to share with attendee's the benefits offered at the Renton Senior Center.
