HomeMy WebLinkAboutAdmin Report EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT M E M O R A N D U M DATE: June 14, 2021 TO: Randy Corman, Council President Members of Renton City Council FROM: Armondo Pavone, Mayor Ed VanValey, Chief Administrative Officer SUBJECT: Administrative Report • The Surface Water Utility received Pollution Prevention Assistance funding up to $175,000 from the Department of Ecology’s Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program. The funding will be used in partnership with Ecology to cover technical assistance for automotive, light industrial, dry cleaning, distribution centers, food services, grocery stores, mini-marts, and retail. A subcontractor will focus on reducing or removing pollutants from stormwater and hazardous waste by providing technical assistance, system and program development, and producing educational videos in multiple languages. • Parks, Planning & Natural Resources Forestry Program is pleased to announce that the 10-year Urban Forestry Management Plan is being redrafted for 2021-2031. PlanIT Geo is the external consultant who will help in these efforts over the next nine months. Their participation was announced at the April 12, 2021 COW. The project slogan is “Rooted in Renton” and public feedback will be sought throughout the planning process. RentonForestryPlan.com is a dedicated website that has been set up to invite public participation and provide a specific point of contact for the project. Please contact the Urban Forester, Ian Gray with any questions at igray@rentonwa.gov or 425-430-6601. • Information about preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and road closures happening this week can be found at http://rentonwa.gov/traffic. All projects are weather permitting and unless otherwise noted, streets will always remain open. Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and road closures will be at the following locations:  Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Possible trucks entering and exiting onto Maple Valley Highway east of 140th Way SE. Questions may be directed to Tom Main at 206-999-1833.  Street Maintenance Asphalt Repairs. The following is a list of locations and dates during which traffic will be impacted while maintenance crews conduct asphalt repairs. SE 174th Street between 106th Place SE and SR 515. Flaggers will be onsite to maintain traffic flow. o Wednesday, June 16. South Grady Way near Renton City Hall. The eastbound curb lane will be closed between Williams Avenue South and Old Benson Road. o Thursday, June 17. NE 16th Street at Kirkland Avenue NE near Meadow Crest Elementary School. Flaggers will be onsite to maintain traffic flow.  Ongoing Trail Closure through Summer 2021. Ripley Lane North Trail closure just north of the VMAC and the trailhead going north in support the WSDOT I- 405 Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project. Impacts to traffic will continue throughout this area between South 2nd Street and South 3rd Street. The Downtown Utility Improvement Project requires several roadway closures and detours between now and project completion in 2022.
