The area of work would be adjacent to the Cedar River Trail pathway, between the Bronson Way bridge and the end of the pathway at the Senior Center. The project would include the removal of old or rusted wire from the gabions as well as any vegetation (e.g., weeds or grasses) necessary for the repair work. The removal of rocks which have fallen out of the failed gabions may also be necessary for use in rebuilding the gabions. The proposal requires a Hydraulic Project Approval Permit from the Department of Fish and Wildlife and is exempt from SEPA Environmental Review. PROJECT LOCATION: Cedar River; Between the Bronson Way North Bridge and the Senior Center (211 Burnett Avenue North) LEGAL DESCRIPTION: See attached SEC-TWN-R: 17-23N-5E WATER BODY/WETLAND: Cedar River (Urban Environment Designation) An exemption from a Shoreline Management Substantial Development Permit is hereby granted on the proposed project described on the attached form for the following reason(s): X Normal maintenance of repair of existing structures or developments, including damage by accident, fire or elements. 1. Size of the site in terms of distance would be approximately 'h mile long, and location is the portion of the N.E. 1/< of Section 18 and the portion of the N.W. Vs of section 17 Township 23 North, Range 5 East. The site would go from the Bronson Way N. Bridge in the westerly direction down river to the end of the red clay brick pathway. This site is used for public recreation as far as walking, bike riding and entering into the river for water recreation. The site has the name of Cedar River Trails. The steepest slope is approximately 5-6 % down fall into the river. The soil types are of regular dirt and sand, but mostly the banks are of quarry balls. The total cost of this project should not exceed $ 2,500.00.
