MEMBERSHIP The Renton Planning Commission shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. II. OFFICERS The officers shall be a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and other officers the Commission may select. III. MEETINGS The Planning Commission shall hold regular meetings (either public hearings or committee of the whole) according to the following schedule: January through December, first and third Wednesdays, at 6:00 p.m. (During the months of August and December, meetings will only be held on the first Wednesday of the month due to vacation and Christmas, unless a Special Meeting is called.) Should a regular meeting day be a legal holiday, or if City Hall is closed for any reason, the scheduled meeting shall be postponed to the succeeding Wednesday, unless a majority of the Commission votes to select another day. Special Meetings may be called by the Chair, or the Vice Chair in the absence of the Chair, or a majority of the Commission. Members shall be individually notified at least three (3) days prior to any special meeting. Absences: No notification of missing a meeting is an unexcused absence. Three excused absences for any scheduled meeting equals one unexcused absence. After three unexcused absences within one calendar year, staff will notify the Mayor’s office and request that the member be removed and start the process to replace the member. ELECTIONS Officers shall be elected annually at the regular public meeting in November of each year, or as soon thereafter as possible. All voting shall be done by secret ballot unless otherwise determined by the majority of the members. Newly elected officers shall take office at the first meeting of the new year. X. AMENDMENTS These Bylaws may be amended or repealed and new Bylaws may be adopted at any regular meeting or special meeting by a majority vote of the membership. A copy of the proposed Bylaws, or amendments thereto, shall be furnished to each member at least three (3) days prior to the date of the meeting. All amendments to the Bylaws shall be submitted to the Mayor and City Council for their information. IT IS HEREBY UNDERSTOOD that the undersigned Chair of the Renton Planning Commission does hereby certify that the above and foregoing Bylaws were duly adopted by the members of the Commission as the Bylaws of the Commission on the 16th day of December, 2009, and that they do now constitute the Bylaws of the City of Renton Planning Commission.
