CITYOFRENTON,WASHINGTONORDINANCENO.6064ANORDINANCEOFTHECITYOFRENTON,WASHINGTON,AMENDINGSUBSECTION2-1O-5.AOFTHERENTONMUNICIPALCODEBYALLOWINGOWNERSOFASMALLBUSINESSINTHECITYOFRENTONTOBEMEMBERSOFTHEPLANNINGCOMMISSION,AUTHORIZINGCORRECTIONS,PROVIDINGFORSEVERABILITY,ANDESTABLISHINGANEFFECTIVEDATE.WHEREAS,in2008,Ordinance5366increasedthenumberofthemembersofthePlanningCommissionfromseven(7)tonine(9);andWHEREAS,theCityhasbeendeliberateineffortstoincreasediverseracialbackgrounds,ages,andoccupationsofmembersofthePlanningCommissionandotherCityCommissionsandCommittees,theincreasetonine(9)membersadvancedthoseeffortsmorequickly;andWHEREAS,historically,membershavebeenrequiredtoberesidentsoftheCityofRenton;andWHEREAS,theinsightsandperspectivesofownersofsmallbusinessesintheCityondevelopmentregulationsandplanningdocumentsoftheCitywouldalsobevaluable;NOW,THEREFORE,THECITYCOUNCILOFTHECITYOFRENTON,WASHINGTON,DOORDAINASFOLLOWS:SECTIONI.AllportionsoftheRentonMunicipalCodeinthisordinancenotshowninstrikethroughandunderlineeditsremainineffectandunchanged.SECTIONII.Subsection2-10-5.AoftheRentonMunicipalCodeisamendedasfollows:2-10-5MEMBERS:A.AllPlanningCommissionmembersshallberesidentsorownersofasmallbusinessine4-theCityofRenton.ThenumberofCommissionmembersthatare1 ORDINANCENO.6064ownersofabusinessin,butnotaresidentof,theCityislimitedtonomotethantwo(2)members.B.Membersshallbeselectedwithoutrespecttopoliticalaffiliations,shallservewithoutcompensation,andtheappointeesshallconstituteacrosssectionofthecommunityrepresentingdifferentinterests,geographicalareas,trades,professionsandactivities.C.ThePlanningCommissionshallelectitsownchair,vice-chair,andsecretary.Itmaycreateandfillsuchotherofficesasitmaydeterminefromtimetotime.D.TheCommissionshallholdatleasttwelve(12)regularmeetingsineachyear.SECTIONIII.UponapprovaloftheCityAttorney,theCityClerkisauthorizedtodirectthecodifiertomakenecessarycorrectionstothisordinance,includingthecorrectionsofscrivenersorclericalerrors;referencestootherlocal,state,orfederallaws,codes,rules,orregulations;orordinancenumberingandsection/subsectionnumberingandreferences.SECTIONIV.Ifanysection,subsection,sentence,clause,phrase,orworkofthisordinanceshouldbeheldtobeinvalidorunconstitutionalbyacourtorcompetentjurisdiction,suchinvalidityorunconstitutionalitythereofshallnotaffecttheconstitutionalityofanyothersection,subsection,sentence,clause,phraseorwordofthisordinance.SECTIONV.Thisordinanceshallbeinfullforceandeffectthirty(30)daysafteradoption.Nolaterthanfive(5)dayspriortosucheffectivedate,asummaryofthisordinanceconsistingofitstitleshallbepublishedintheCity’sofficialnewspaper.2 ORDINANCENO.(O’IPASSEDBYTHECITYCOUNCILthis2nddayofMay2022.APPROVEDBYTHEMAYORthis2nddayof6/erkJast.Seth,May,2022.Approvedastoform:ShaneMoloney,CityAttorneyDateofPublication:5/5/2022(Summary)ORD-CED:2214:4/19/22doPavone,Mayor3
