Summary: Quest Integrated (Qi2) is a research and development company founded in 1970. As a world-class technology incubator, it has thrived through timely innovations that meet the continuously evolving needs of industry. The Company was recently acquired by Baker Hughes to support their customer requirements for advanced robotic inspection or nondestructive examination (NDE) of gas pipelines, aboveground storage tanks, pressure vessels and other critical equipment in oil & gas, pulp & paper, power and process industries. Site Activities: The facilities at 1100 Oakesdale will house 30 – 35 scientists, engineers and technicians. R&D activities include development of advanced ultrasonic and electromagnetic acoustic sensors for NDE, medical therapeutics and condition monitoring of critical infrastructure. NDE sensors will be integrated on various robotic transporters capable of autonomous and semi-autonomous inspection of gas & liquid pipelines for threats including cracks and corrosion related wall loss. Additional systems include mini-ROV’s - similarly equipped with NDE sensors - that are lowered through the top entry port of in-service aboveground storage tanks, activated when below the liquid line and, subsequently, swim to the floor of the tank to perform inspections. The site will include the following areas: sensor development, transducer assembly, parts storage and robotic assembly & testing. A tentative floor plan is attached. Final drawings will be prepared by the company’s architect and submitted for building permit approval and issuance. Timing is of the essence. Qi2 needs to vacate its current premise located in Kent by no later than end of July.
