MEETING MINUTES

CALL TO ORDER:
Chair, Jim Phelan called the meeting to order at 4:30 pm.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Review of the September minutes for the 9/28/10 meeting.

FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT:
1) Unfinished Business: N/A

A.) The Battalion Chief/Safety Officer promotional exam report was reviewed and the Battalion
Chief/Safety Officer eligibility list dated October 19, 2010 was approved.

POLICE DEPARTMENT:
1) Unfinished Business: N/A
2) New Business:
A.) The Lateral Police Officer eligibility list, dated October 20, 2010 was approved. The Lateral Police
Officer Examination Report was reviewed.

B.) The request for appeal by Djervatius Dobbin to be restored to the Entry Level Police
Officereligibility list was denied.

C.) The revised Evidence Technician Classification was approved.

D.) Chief Milosevich informed the Commission the current Sergeant promotional eligibility list has
expired and since the department currently has a vacant he will have the position filled on a
temporary basis until the promotional process is completed in 2011.
OTHER BUSINESS/COMMENTS:
A.) The Commission approved the combining of the Police and Fire Civil Service Rules

B.) The Commission approved to start the recruitment of Civil Service Secretary position. The
Secretary will update the previous announcement used in 2007 and will provide the Commission a
copy of the updated announcement sometime next week for their review before posting. The
Secretary will include a question in the supplemental asking for experience in working with Civil
Service rules.
