People drive at extremely high speeds on this road and there have been 3 accidents in the past few weeks including one fatality. Adding to the danger, local community members (e.g. adults and seniors, kids returning from school) walk alongside this road in order to access additional walking terrain (example: walking down 177th PL SE, turning right, and walking along SE 128th St in order to turn on to 176th AVE SE). There is no sidewalk and curb to speak of on this road. Each time I walk my dog on this road I fear I will be hit by a car driving 60-70MPH in the right lane. I have seen older community members being forced to jump across multiple lanes of traffic to also cross SE 128th St from 175th Ave SE. It is terrifying to watch and I fear it won't be long until I am witness to or impacted by a tragedy myself. I will hope to attend the council meeting tomorrow if possible. I would like to see a speed reduction on SE 128th St, as well as some sort of curb/raised sidewalk/barrier added to prevent us pedestrians (including local school children) from being hit by vehicles. I believe the investment here would be modest, with an outsized impact on a truly wonderful community in the Highlands.
