HomeMy WebLinkAbout121222 Doug Levy Day ProclamationArmondoPavoneMayor(4)fiereas,DougLevyofOutcomesbyLevybeganhisillustriouscareerwiththeCityofRentonin1999,beingrecruitedbythenCAOJayCovingtonandthenEconomicAdministratorSueCarlsonoverlunchatArmondo’sCafeItaliano;andtt4,)fiereas,DouginitiallywascontractedtoworkonthePortQuendallproject—andweallknowhowthatturnedout—buttheCityofRentondecidedtotakehimonformoteregularlegislativeconsulting;and‘14)fiereas,Doug’stenacityandthoroughknowledgeofthelegislativeprocesshelpedmakesimpleideasbecomeimpactfulrealitiesforourcity;suchasSunsetParkwhere$5.3millioninfederal,stateandcountyfundingwassecuredwithhisassistance,$500,000infundingtowardsgatewayfeaturesatExit7on1-405(perhapsthepublicartcouldbeastatueofDoug),andotherprojectsandfundingthatassistedthecityinwaystoonumeroustocount;andWfiereas,Doughasneverbeenshyaboutcommunicatinghisideas,opinions,orprofessionalguidance;lovestousetheword“persnickety”insaidcommunications;andhassent62,337emailstocitystaffsince2007(wedon’thaverecordsbeforethatsothetruecountcouldbecloserto100,000);and‘14)fiereas,Dougneverencounteredachallengehewasn’tupfor—whetherreachingouttoWSDOT,DeptofCommerce,DeptofEcology,andotheragenciesfortransportationmeasures,utilityissues,andairportmeasures,orsecuring$250millioninthestatebudgetforconstructionofthe8thStreetDirectAccessRampintheMoveForwardWAbillorassistingonafundinginitiativeforaffordablehousingutilityinfrastructure;and‘Whereas,Dougishighlyrespectedbyalloutelectedofficialsatthefederal,state,county,andcitylevelsofgovernmentandalsobyhispeers;andthatrespectisabyproductofhisintegrity,knowledge,workethic,andcommitmenttoothers;and(ProctamationRentonCityHall,7thFloor1055SouthGradyWay,Renton,WA98057.rentonwa.gov
